This was the first place in Krakow we went to as tourists straight from the plane from London. As my boyfriend and I have some experience with Slavic languages (I Czech and Slovak, he Russian) we attempted to speak in Polish to the waiter. He did not understand, that’s okay. But he bombarded us with questions with a rude attitude. We tried English, that worked better, but he was still very brisk. We ordered just a soya latte and tea. We sat by the window which at first looked cute, with lights, but the condensation on the window made the floor wet, around the electric wires we were very close to; I was quite worried for the safety of this. While at first I wondered if it was normal because of the weather, I have not seen this anywhere else in my travels this season, even in mountain villages. I was even dripped on while sitting here. Our drinks - while other customers had their meals carried to them, we had to go back to the counter to pick ours up. I am not sure why we deserved different treatment. The other customers appeared to be tourists too. While I emphasised I wanted a soy latte, I had absolutely no confidence it was soy. It did not taste like it, it tasted like cow’s milk to both me and my boyfriend. I did not comment, due to doubting that the server would care, the fact that I can drink cow’s milk, and I do not like to make a fuss anyway. My boyfriend’s tea pot was also so hot he had to hold it with his sleeve - he says he has not done this elsewhere. Additionally, a simple tea and coffee came to 36 zloty. After receiving similar fare elsewhere, we have paid as little as 16 zloty, so seemed overpriced. We arrived hungry and searching for food, but left after this experience. I have honestly never felt so embarrassed and dismissed as a customer - even coming from a busy city. The experience was on my mind for multiple days! This first morning I spent in Krakow, I was worried this was a common experience, rude waiters who don’t accommodate, overpriced food, and having to worry I was not getting what I ordered. However, my experience elsewhere has been lovely, from the busiest places to villages. I have revised my review from 2 stars to 1...
Read moreThe latte was excellent and here we finally have a store where the Italian coffee machine makes sense as the product is superb! there is nothing worse than posing with a big machine and the coffee tastes as bad as filter one from a bakery. I had another cup of coffee just to prove my point for you, dear reader.
We had the tomato and mozzarella panini as well as the Gossip omelette. The bacon was crispy as I like it, the pesto on the panini had a nice lemony touch and we liked it really much.
The cake looking fantastic so we got as a piece of nuts with salted caramel and one brownie with forest fruit. we will have that as a dessert later so I can't tell about the quality yet.
the service was friendly and they were quick as well so nothing to complain about. Gossip cafe is a small place with 6 small tables and one big one and the decoration is a bit alternative without screaming Berlin kreuzberg all over the place - just comfy and nice to sit at.
I guess we are coming here for breakfast again tomorrow before heading off to...
Read moreIt was the most delicious omelet I've ever eaten! I didn't even think that an omelet could be turned into such a work of art! A very beautiful presentation, a perfect balance of ingredients and flavors, big and tasty! My son ate bagel, which is also very very tasty. The bagel itself is crispy, this is what I need! Of course, I could take off my star for not very comfortable furniture, lack of a toilet and a very small room, but I won't, because the main thing in the cafe for me is still food. And it's wonderful there) And I've never eaten a more delicious brownie anywhere! Itis crust is crispy!! wwwooooww
PS by the way, the food was cooked...
