NAPNAPCAFE — Restaurant in Krakow

EDIT: as the owner clearly has taken umbridge with my honest review, I'll clarify - I never suggested asking customers to leave, but there is a simple way to encourage those who have finished to pay their bill which may then prompt them to leave sooner - this is a very common and not at all 'horribly disrespectful' way of running a business - plus, it might encourage more return clientele if it speeds up your queues ;)

We came for breakfast one morning on our visit to Krakow, and queued for 20 minutes before deciding to come back the following day, as we'd seen such good reviews and the menu sounded amazing. We returned the following day and queued for 45 minutes before getting a table.

While outside the window and regularly looking in to see whether anyone looked like they were leaving, we noticed a table of four women sat having finished their food and drinks and just chatting. It was surprising that given how small the cafe is (only approx 10 tables) and how long the queues are, that the staff weren't gently encouraging tables that had finished to either order more, or pay their bill. It then started making sense how slowly the queue moved, which could easily be rectified with more diligent staff.

My first annoyance beyond the expected wait time, was the fact they had run out of decaf coffee. This is the first time I have ever experienced a barista-style coffee venue that was unable to provide decaf, particularly given they are so popular, I would have thought they would be on top of their ordering. Nevertheless, we ordered our food and drink and didn't have to wait too long for it to be delivered.

The portion sizes are very large, and we noticed before we started eating that a LOT of people were leaving half or more of the food on their plates - at least 3 of the tables who were eating at the same time as us had half full plates when they left. There must be so much food waste from this restaurant, I don't know why they don't just reduce their portion sizes to compensate?

Moving onto the food itself - I ordered the Viking french toast, and found it to be a strange consistency. Eggs were sloppy, added to by ricotta cheese for extra slop, and topped with avocado cream, just for extra moisture! The french toast that drowned underneath could have been very nice, but it just didn't hit the mark for me. My husband ordered the California sunrise and enjoyed his meal - perhaps it was just the wrong choice I made.

All in all, I was disappointed after spending an hour of my life waiting in the cold to get into the place, only for the food to be sub-par and wasteful in terms of huge portions (and I eat well, so for me to say that is something!) and for them to have run out of a...

Visited this place for breakfast, indulged in shakshuka paired with a warm rose latte and flat white. The fresh breads were exceptionally soft, almost melting in the mouth. The food is outstanding, serving sizes are generous enough for two. The coffee is expertly brewed. The ambiance is phenomenal, creating a cozy atmosphere. The staff is brilliant, ensuring quick service even during peak times with a full house of customers. Overall, I'm highly impressed and would strongly recommend this spot for a satisfying meal.
