I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gaska Polish Restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect stage for a delightful meal. We started with the Smazone Boczniaki, a delicious mushroom dish that was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The flavors were rich and earthy, making it a fantastic entrée to begin our culinary journey. For the main course, we indulged in three different dishes: the Placki Ziemniaczane z cebula grzybów lesnych (potato pancake with forest mushrooms), Domowe recznie rabione perogi ruskie (dumplings), and the Tradycyjny kotlet z kościa smaźony (pork chops). Each dish was prepared to perfection. The potato pancake was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, complemented beautifully by the flavorful forest mushrooms. The vegetarian dumplings were a highlight, showcasing the chef's skill in creating hearty and satisfying vegetarian dishes. The pork chops were cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, truly a testament to the restaurant's expertise in traditional cuisine. Our meal concluded with a slice of traditional cheesecake, which was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. Creamy and rich, it was an indulgent treat that we savored until the last bite. Special mention must be made of our waiter, who provided excellent suggestions and impeccable service throughout the evening. His knowledge of the menu and thoughtful recommendations significantly enhanced our dining experience. Additionally, we tried the premium vodka tasting available on the menu. We were presented with a selection of four vodkas, each with a respectable pour. The vodkas included a traditional potato vodka, as well as unique flavors like pepper, plum, and elderberry. The plum and elderberry vodkas were notably sweeter, providing a delightful contrast to the more robust and spicy pepper vodka. This tasting experience was a nice addition, showcasing the diverse and exquisite flavors of Polish vodka. For a non-vegetarian restaurant, Gaska Polish Restaurant certainly knows how to cater to vegetarian tastes with impressive skill. Every dish, whether vegetarian or not, was crafted with care and precision. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Krakow

While on a private tour of Krakow, we had asked our guide to take us to only local Polish restaurant, so we could experience true Polish cuisine. The very first place we went was to this small, yet delightful restaurant far from any tourist area. The atmosphere inside this restaurant was fantastic, like going back in time and we loved the decor. The entire staff were true professionals, helpful and friendly all at the same time. However, we must give a special thank you and kudos to our server Grzegorz, who took care of us from start to finish and we are so grateful for how well he treated all of us. We tried several different Polish dishes and everything we had was tasted wonderful, excellent flavor. We even tried the goose pate, but we must admit that this dish might not be high on our must try again list. I guess that one might be a matter of taste. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem across the Vistula River and away from the more traditional tourist areas of Krakow. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, both local and visitors.

My girlfriend Melanie and I had the pleasure of dining at Kuchina Polska Gaska on our last evening in Krakow – and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of our trip!

I had called ahead to reserve a table in the lovely courtyard. Communication in English was no problem at all – a great first impression.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by our waitress Weronika, who immediately took us to the charming courtyard and let us choose our table freely. We felt welcome from the very first moment.

Since it was our first time in Poland, we wanted to try as many traditional dishes as possible. The sampler plate of all the starters already worked in our favor, but we still ended up ordering far too much. Thankfully, Weronika noticed this while taking our order and kindly helped us narrow it down. She was genuinely excited about our interest in Polish cuisine and guided us in putting together the perfect selection without ending up with enough food for six people.

It didn’t take long before our appetizer platter arrived – a beautiful variety of Polish starters. After we finished, Weronika returned right away to check in, ask what we liked best, and even told us about her personal favorites.

Next came the pierogi she had recommended – and they were absolutely heavenly. At that point, we were already quite full… but then the main course arrived: a generous platter of traditional Polish sausages and meat varieties with sides. Everything was delicious, but definitely more than we could handle.

No problem though – Weronika made sure that all the leftovers were carefully vacuum-sealed so we could take them with us safely.

We ended the evening with a carafe of house wine and a couple of shots of vodka – both surprisingly good – and even then, Weronika continued to make sure we were perfectly taken care of. At one point, another waiter stopped by, who was also very kind, but it was Weronika’s warm and attentive service that truly made the night unforgettable.

We stayed until closing time, but never once felt rushed. The atmosphere was relaxed, the food was delicious, and the service was truly outstanding.

In total, we paid 315 PLN – which was more than fair considering the amount of food and drinks we had (definitely enough for three people).

While we waited outside for our taxi, Weronika even came out to say goodbye, and we had one last lovely chat.

In the end, this review is turning more into a tribute to Weronika than a general restaurant review – but she really was that wonderful.

PS to Weronika: Thank you for making our last night in Krakow so special. Your kindness, warmth, and genuine care made this dinner truly unforgettable. We wish you all the very best for your upcoming exams and in everything life brings your way. It would be a real joy to meet you again someday.

All our love –...

Very disappointed

We made a reservation which they confirmed back mid January for our trip to krakow on the 7th February

Turned up and door was locked even though you could see people eating inside. After 10 mins knocking I decided to call them.

I was informed the restaurant was closed and there was no reservation made. I explained we had the reservation on my phone in my hand. However it made no difference (they would not even come to the door) and they clearly did not want our business.

Its a shame but they handled it very poorly and unprofessionally. Not our normal experience of Krakow hospitality.

Update; the owners have contacted us and apolgised for the mix up and invited us for a complimentary mean when next in Krakow.

Update part 2:

We finally got to visit the restaurant and I have to say we were not disappointed. We ordered starters and mains. The food was awesome.

The owners did not want any money for food as an apology for the initial mix up. However we felt it was the right thing to do so we left a generous tip for the fabulous service, great food and wonderful decor.

In all I would highly recommend giving 5 stars and we will be back in summer 22. Already looking...
