Hankki — Restaurant in Krakow

We found this place on a Michelin recommendations list and for me, personally it was a surprising disappointment (meat eating bf was happy with his meal). The vegetarian ramen was bland, especially the fake duck mince in it. Tiny corn was fresh and awesome though!

A mind boggling sparkling water debacle happened to us as well - I assume the restaurants uses a SodaStream or the like for its sparkling water, both the sparkling lemonade and the plain sparkling water had barely any carbonation and clear aftertaste this kind of machines leave when the water goes still (we own one as well). We asked for an exchange to still water and while the server looked a bit nonplussed, they complied. Kudos. Not the kind of thing you expect to encounter in a restaurant with Michelin name...

Hankki had been on my list for a while, and we finally made it there for dinner on February 20th. The place looks just as nice inside as it does from the outside, with a warm and welcoming vibe. The staff were super friendly and even brought me regular utensils since I’m not the best with chopsticks, appreciated that!

The menu offers a great selection of sushi, ramen, and other Japanese-Korean dishes, plus some interesting beers from the East. One of the waiters mentioned that Hankki, as named by its Korean owner, means ‘a homemade meal,’ which obviously sounds so nice. We also tried their well-known panna cotta, and it definitely lived up to the hype.

Tough one to review. The service was really bad. It took forever to get the food and there was no one else waiting, the waitress did not know the difference between vegan or vegetarian and trying to get the bill took almost 20 minutes. However, the food was excellent. It was very well presented and had an excellent taste. However, be aware that it is on the small size portion wise. They really have atmosphere going for them, they've done a wonderful job with making it inviting and modern.

One complaint, they had people cleaning while I was eating. The window cleaner was right over my shoulder. This should be done before they open for business since they do not...
