My favourite place with amazing coffee in Krakow! Siempre! Every time I come here, I feel joy and happiness, just because how good everything is here. The cakes, the coffee, the people, the interior But first things first. Coffee here is actually amazing! I love the fact that workers know a lot about coffee and can give you some advices. You can buy different coffee here and the quality is very good Cakes here are below any ranking, they are simply perfect, especially these two that I have on pictures. Chocolate cake is my absolute favourite! It’s a family business and you can feel it by the way you’re gonna be treated here. It’s very welcoming place with cute cozy interior, plenty of posters and different tables. The chairs here are very comfortable too. It’s a pretty small cafe, so sometimes they have no space, but during the summer they have a little tables outside, so it’s cool overall The toilet here is rather small, but I have no bad comments on it, it works well As a client, you can speak at least in Polish and English, so it’s a big plus for me The prices here are affordable and it’s...
Read more"Kawalerka - colonial store and cafe" serves up a pretty decent coffee, but the cakes are disappointingly heavy and greasy. It could have been just another café in Kraków, but what's surprising is the casual use of the term "colonial" in the place's name. The colonial era was marked by immense suffering, with indigenous populations worldwide enduring exploitation and oppression, not to mention the dark legacy of the slave trade. The lasting impact of colonial structures on the coffee industry is still visible today, with inequalities persisting. Using the term "colonial store" in 2024 appears tone-deaf. It's crucial to acknowledge the dark history associated with colonialism and refrain from romanticizing an era that involved brutality, land theft, and cultural erasure. For an establishment that attempts to incorporate historical elements, there should be a visible commitment to ethically sourced coffee. Unfortunately, this aspect is unclear. It's worth reflecting on the implications of the colonial theme and considering adopting a more inclusive and...
Read moreA warm and cosy café tucked away on a quiet street. Perfect if you are craving tea, especially. They have a massive selection of teas from all over the world, and the woman takes exceptional care in preparing it the proper way for the type of tea your order, complete with a personal timer. You can also buy packets of tea leaves to take home.
My cappuccino was also quite nice and the biscuit was full of snap. It didn't have the best flavour, but it would be a good dipping cookie for hot chocolate.
The cafe itself is rustic, semi-industrial, and homey. There are a few people on laptops, and not a great deal of seating, but it wasn't too busy so finding a spot was not difficult. I really liked the artwork on the walls. It was an eclectic mix of neat naturalistic and Polish things, with nice natural light. It isn't one of those fancy minimalistic 3rd wave cafés, but rather a quaint tea room...
