You will find my original review below these new comments. I went back. After posting my original review, I gave the place a second chance. The owner or manager reached out and offered me a comp meal based on that I never got my food the first time. I chose not to identify myself, although I appreciated the gesture. It was not super busy this time and I ordered the same meal. Once again the cappuccino was super good. I ordered the same full English breakfast. It came quickly as was good, not great but solidly good. Unfortunately my opinion may suffer from comparison as a place up the street serves one of the best English breakfasts ever. That said, when I go back (and I will) I think I will stick to one of their delicious looking bagel choices.

Super a disappointing experience. I'd like to write about the food, but I never got any. The cappuccino was excellent. I'm not one to diss a place and always look for the positive when I write a review...sigh. Busy Sunday Brunch, I arrived at about 12:30. Found a table and then went to the front to place my order. I ordered a cappuccino and an English breakfast (for which I have a receipt by way of proof.) Simple, yeah? They told me it would be at least 25 minutes. No problem, I'm not in a hurry. I took out my computer and went to work. Thirty minutes later a waitress brought me a cappuccino and a tea. Seems the English breakfast comes with a tea. Waiting and waiting, but no food. After an hour, I went to the front and asked about my breakfast. The person who attended me seemed frazzled. I produced the receipt. She asked, "Are you Steve?" I said yes. She apologized profusely and said, if I could just give her minute my food would come. Shortly thereafter, a waitress dropped off a croissant (cold) and a new pot of tea. I went back to work for another hour. NO FOOD. I got up, and quietly left. Krakow has a lot of competition between restaurants. I'm crossing this one off my list. Such a disappointment, to be completely forgotten by a restaurant where I had paid up...

We were a group of six people from Austria and decided to have a spontaneous breakfast at this restaurant. The ambience is nice, and the food looked promising – at least until things took a turn.

Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. One of our colleagues follows a gluten-free diet and had specific requests. The staff clearly did not appreciate this, and when she finally received her food, the waitress sarcastically commented “crazy breakfast”, which felt quite unprofessional.

To make things worse, I found something hard in my pistachio cake – whether it was a piece of shell or something else, it shouldn’t have been there. Another person even found a hair in their food, which made us seriously question the hygiene.

I also lost or forgot a bracelet at the restaurant and called them shortly after. They knew exactly who I was and which table I sat at, but then simply hung up the phone. I tried several times to reach someone, with no success.

Looking back, we feel we may have been treated this way because we didn’t leave a tip – not because we didn’t want to, but because we had no cash and they don’t accept tips by card.

All in all, this was a disappointing and frustrating experience that we won’t forget anytime soon. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this place due to the lack of professionalism, poor customer service, and...

I am really disappointed by the way me and my friends were treated. First we entered just because the advertisement was appealing (happy hour craft beer for 10 zł). My friend asked which is the craft beer, so a barista answered kindly “all of them”. After seeing the bill of our order, the prices of our beers were almost double than expected, so we wanted to know why - another woman from a service (who later attended us) said it’s written in the advertisement which brands are included, so we could have read it (it was not written, we checked later:). When she served the beers and we pointed it (calmly, that it’s not just about money, but misleading and the clients may feel kind of betrayed) she got upset and answered really rude that nobody forces us to be here or to buy anything and it’s not her fault that we are not understanding. As well she adviced me a beer with rosemary but after seeing the bottle when served it was with thyme (which I am not fan of, but I didn’t want to talk anymore). It’s a really beautiful place which huge potential but as a client I would appreciate to be attended by someone who LIKES:) people and knows how to talk with them. All my friends (from different countries: Germany, Spain, Italy) were shocked by the way we were treated by...

I called in to Cytat Cafe for breakfast on a business trip to Krakow, mostly because it opens earlier than other cafes in the area. However, it was a great choice. It’s a bookshop (Polish books only apparently) and a cafe but the way they’ve embedded the books as part of the overall design is so clever and quite quirky. From the outside and from when you first walk in it looks quite small but as you pass the counter and into the seating area you quickly see that it’s actually quite a big place with loads of comfortable seating. The walls are lined with books which makes it very colourful and, although I couldn’t understand any, I picked a few up and had a browse through as I waited for my breakfast. I ordered the Polish (or was it Crakow) breakfast and really enjoyed it. Eggs, sausages, ham, cheese - it was exactly what I was hoping for and was great value for money. It was served to my table soon after I ordered, giving me time to enjoy it. I also had an Americano coffee which was served with a little motivational quote to help kickstart my day. If I lived in Crakow I’m sure that I’d be a regular at Cytat Cafe. I love spending time in places like this and when I’m next in town I’ll be paying another visit.

One thing that they absolutely know how to do here is the atmosphere. An unassuming place from the outside, or even at the bar opens up as you enter deeper to find a table. By the way: you're supposed to find a table before ordering at the bar, as they need to know your table number. The cafe is spacious with a few rooms, which allows to keep it relatively quiet even during busy times. And it happens to be busy. On a cold Saturday noon, I took the only empty table, with a couple more showing "reserved" labels. Typically I care more about food and drinks, and not that much about how the interior looks like, but this one really stands out. There's plenty of books inside and a lot of plants. And there are all those nice touches, like the fact that you get a card with a quote accompanying your coffee. I'm not a coffee aficionado so I don't know if it's fancy enough for coffee geeks. For a regular coffee-drinker it's what you'd expect. There's decent choice of teas, cakes, etc. All in all, it's as good for a meeting with friends as for a break on a cold afternoon, or work-from-cafe setup.
