Hamsa looked a very good compromise for a relatively cheap dinner that seemed flavorful and filling. The place is cozy and the atmosphere spot on. Me and my boyfriend booked last minute and we immediateley got our reservation and the waitresses were super nice to us, which is the reason why i am so sorry to say that the food was between acceptable and not good at all. The bread was just a piece of pita laid on a plate, it was not really stretchy and soft as pita should be and the flavor was average. The hummus, that came along the bread for 28 zloti (6.60€), was not more than 4 spoons. But the thing that descouraged us the most was the flavor. From what we noticed, hummus is basically this restobar’s personality trait. But that has to be the worst hummus we’ve ever tasted in our lives. And the lamb we chose as the main dish was ok, but everything in the dish was just decomposed and overall the flavors did not mix at all. The lamb consisted of 4 sticks in the middle of the plate and was kinda dry, as dry as the cous cous, tasty but still dry. I am so so sorry because everything else was super nice. The tzatziki and the vegetables were tasty. We suspect that the problem with the hummus was too much tahini (?)… Anyway, i wanted to write this with a constructive...
Read moreWhen you're in Krakow and you find yourself craving Middle Eastern... Hamsa's the place! We actually stumbled upon it by accident: it was right by our hotel. Anyway, on to Hamsa itself. The garden area is great for escaping the heat - unfortunately for us, it's also the most popular spot! But they have two other rooms inside with AC (not necessarily on all the way, but on enough) so there's plenty of room to enjoy their food. Interior was very homely. My friend got the chicken kebab, which was done nicely - chicken was tender and juicy and spiced well. I got the mezze plate with hummus and pine nuts, falafel, and muhamarra. PS: the portion is really perfect for two (and too large for just one) because it comes with pickles, salad, and olives. It also came with this spicy sauce which I'd highly recommend. The hummus was all right - loved the addition of the pomegranate - but the muhamarra was FANTASTIC. Falafel was quite dry. They have your regular assortment of beers and Israeli wines, and though they're lacking in cocktails (they only had an aperol spritz), there's a bar upstairs so you can mosey your way on up when you're finished with dinner. All in all, a...
Read moreAfter a disappointing exploration of Polish cuisine, stumbling upon Hamsa was the highlight of our Cracow trip.
Set in a captivating old Jewish building within the historic Jewish neighborhood, the ambiance alone sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.
The staff, notably the delightful girls who attended to us, contributed to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Now, onto the culinary journey – it was truly exceptional. Opting for the gluten-free chicken shish kebab and Hamsa pastrami, each bite was a symphony of flavors.
The succulent chicken, accompanied by a heavenly tahini sauce and perfectly roasted vegetables, was a standout. Equally impressive was the beef pastrami, sourced from their exclusive suppliers, served with a tantalizing yogurt chili sauce.
To complement the meal, we indulged in Israeli wine, expertly paired with the dishes. And for dessert, a serving of knafeh left us speechless with its melt-in-your-mouth goodness.
From the attentive staff to the exquisite food and carefully curated drink selection, Hamsa surpassed all expectations.
Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend Hamsa to anyone...
