Kawiarnia Grill-Cafe - Kramy Dominikańskie — Restaurant in Krakow

I recently spent four nights in Krakow. I got off the tram and walked past this restaurant on the way to the hotel on the first night, and yet somehow didn't eat there until my last evening.

As an Australian in the middle of a Polish winter I was very keen to eat some traditional comfort food, and asked the hotel and everyone I met for their best recommendations. I found all of the venues I tried to be fairly greasy, heavy and flavourless.

Then I tried Rodzinna Restauracja. The food was absolutely perfect! I had the clear beetroot soup with croquette and hunters (mushroom) sauce and a mixed plate of Pierogi. Unlike the other traditional meals I've eaten in Krakow this was beautifully prepared, flavourful, well seasoned and most importantly for me, not full of fat and served with a perfect side of red onion salad and fresh herbs.

And to top it off, I ate there 10 minutes before closing time, and still nothing was too much trouble. The price of the whole meal... 47 Pzl or about $20 Australian. I recently visited the Kramy Dominicańskie and had a very disappointing experience. I ordered a dish that was not marked as containing lactose on the menu. As someone who is lactose intolerant, this is a crucial detail for me. When the dish arrived and I realized it contained lactose, I informed the staff and they told it was my fault that I didn’t mention it before ordering and they didn’t even apologise, so it was pointless even to request a replacement considering such an attitude. When I pointed out that it’s a vital detail for people with allergies or some product intolerance, shockingly, they refused to accommodate my request and did not offer any alternative solutions. AMAZING. WOW. 5 stars! I can’t even begin to explain just how amazing! I don't realy understand some customers complain.

Location of the restaurant in Krakow is stunning and from the moment we arrived the staff were so friendly. This is not easy job they do and In my opinion they deserve medal.

The food is as good as people says but it’s so much more than the food. From the music to the decor to the smell and the fountain in the restaurant.

Cakes beatifuly decorated and so testy.

I could go on and on….but all I’m going to say is GO!

Shout out to the sommelier who let us try a couple of wines and gave us some wonderful recommendations.

I could recognise that they also treat foreigners like family.
