If you like waiting in a long line in order to eat mediocre and overly-priced food (containing hair) delivered with poor service - this is the place for you.
Food: Not bad, but over-priced when compared to other breakfast spots in Krakow. Overly sweet and over-hyped. Quiet soggy waffles but pancakes were alright. Good cappucino and relatively generous portions.
Unfortunately a hair in the food (zoom in on napkin in attached picture).
Service: While the staff were generally polite, they were anything but accomodating. We were seated next to a loud group of teenagers and suddenly another quieter table for two cleared up. We asked to switch immediately and were told this is not possible due to the line outside. Completely absurd and inflexible - why can’t we move to a table that is free for us without having ordered yet? We had barely sat down and were obviously first in line to be seated since we just walked in. Our current spot could be taken by the next two in line outside. Very strange. We were later offered another table and said yes but then another waiter took in 2 guests and placed them there, so we lost that opportunity again. Eventually we could be moved to small spot 1 meter away which was a slight improvement.
Secondly, we wanted to change from 2 poached eggs to avocado on a sandwich but that would cost 12 zl extra. The difference between adding 2 poached eggs and avocado as an extra is only 2 zl, so why the big markup? Again, overly complicated and non-accomodating.
Thirdly, since we don’t like eggs we ordered waffles with berries but instead got waffles with eggs. When we mentioned this we got a new order relatively fast.
To summarize, this place is instagram and tik tok friendly but not serious. Maybe we were unlucky but too many mistakes...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting "Poranki," a charming restaurant located on Kazimierz in Krakow, specifically at Bawol 4. Overall, the experience was delightful, and the restaurant left a lasting impression on me.
Let's start with the highlights. The breakfast offerings at "Poranki" are simply fantastic. I had the pleasure of trying their signature dishes, including the delectable bacon and eggs Benedict waffles and the mouthwatering orange French toast topped with a rich fruit mascarpone cream. Each dish was a unique and flavorful experience that left my taste buds satisfied and craving more.
The service at "Poranki" deserves special mention. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure that all guests felt welcome and comfortable. Their warm approach added to the overall pleasant atmosphere of the place and made the dining experience even more enjoyable.
However, despite the delicious food and excellent service, there were a couple of downsides worth mentioning. Firstly, the restaurant's size is rather limited, which can lead to a cramped dining experience during peak hours. Additionally, I found myself waiting in a rather long queue before getting a table, which might not be ideal for those with limited time to spare.
In conclusion, "Poranki" on Kazimierz, Krakow, is a breakfast lover's paradise. The delightful combination of tasty dishes, such as the bacon and eggs Benedict waffles and the orange French toast with mascarpone cream, paired with the friendly and attentive service, makes it a great choice for a morning meal. Just be prepared for potential crowds and a wait to get a table. Despite these minor drawbacks, I highly recommend "Poranki" for a delicious and enjoyable breakfast...
Read moreThis hidden gem of a coffee and cake café located in the Jewish Quarter, was a perfect place to take a break while exploring the Jewish Quarter. Tucked away along the east side of Plac Bawół Bartosza, this small café place to have breakfast or simply a cup of coffee and a piece of cake. There are several seating areas both inside and outside and there are restrooms for customers downstairs. The café appears to be a relatively new addition to some older buildings, but we are not 100% sure. The inside of the café also appears very new and has a well-designed floorplan, which makes for a very nice quite place to relax alone or with friends. The food selection is limited, depending on the time of your visit, but everything we had was delicious, at a reasonable price and served with a smile. And that is what we really loved about this place, the people (staff) that were so outgoing and friendly. Since the place was not very busy at the time because it was close to closing (might have been why the cake selection was limited, all the good stuff was already gone), we had the opportunity to engage four of them in casual conversation. What was so special about this was how open, friendly and educational to learn from them about the Polish culture. In addition, a young lady from London was sitting close by and joined the conversation, what a great experience. This café, along with the staff, was one of our favorite places we ate at during a three-week adventure in Krakow and Budapest. Thank you all for making this a visit to remember and we recommend anyone passing...
