Veganic is a fantastic vegan restaurant, just 5 minutes walk northwest of Krakow old town. They have put a lot of effort into their menu to create lots of different options. We went there twice and because we tried so many dishes I will need to make two posts about it.
The oyster mushrooms were covered in crispy breadcrumbs. They were served with a sauce that was a mayonnaise and ketchup mix. They were very slightly oily but the quality of the mushrooms was great!
The cold cauliflower soup was great! Because it had three little toppings: cucumber and dill salsa, radish and pickled cabbage. So you got a slightly different flavour with each spoon. It was labelled as low salt on the menu and so it needed a bit of salt to be honest.
The Parmigiana was aubergine, on bread with a rich tomato sauce and pesto topped with vegan cheese. This was beautifully cooked and was honestly so rich that it was one of our favourite dishes.
The minestrone was very tomatoey. It had a very strong taste of celery and contained celery itself along with some other vegetables.
The aranchini had a hint of fake vegan cheese taste but the rice was really well cooked and the bread crumb crust was perfect . It was served with a micro herb salad that was quite unique with the tastes of mostly parsley and something peppery. The tomato and olive sauce was powerful and olivey and so it went really well with the cheesy rice. Very mild hint of chilli. They do sauces really well here! This was probably my favourite dish.
The lasagne had nutritional yeast on top I think. Very tomatoey rich sauce again. Lasagne sheets were very well cooked so not Al dente which was nice for me! Slight spice, maybe just very peppery. Olives and one full layer of courgette and one full layer of aubergine.
Thai stew with kimchi and basmati rice with nicely sliced mushrooms and pitta. A bit weird that it comes with a piece of pitta? But ok! Mild katsu taste and probably needed sticky rice to be vaguely authentic but was fine with the basmati.
The cauliflower steak was cooked nicely but there were a lot of green olives which my mum didn't realise as she hates them. It seemed nice to me. Bulgar wheat is not my thing though. It was with cream, not hummus which was interesting.
The gnocchi definitely needed double the tomato sauce. They've shown they are good at sauces! Not Mac n cheese like described it was tomato and cream sauce. No cheese taste. Slightly sweet gnocchi which was soft and heavy.
Oyster mushrooms were the same as I had a starter. Served with potatoes and cabbage which were well cooked. No school dinner cabbage here. Nice dill flavour.
The Tiramisu was very light despite looking huge. I ate the whole thing really, it was a great tiramisu! I'm always on a mission to find great tiramisu.
The salted caramel cake + Banana chocolate cake were nice, they were very rich and not too sweet which we appreciated after a heavy meal.
Oh and the piña colada mocktail was amazing!
All in all, a fantastic few visits and I highly recommend not missing out on going here if you are...
Read moreI just dined at Veganic, starting with a delicious plate of squashed pumpkin accompanied by tender baby carrots, onions, and roasted pumpkin seeds. The dish was beautifully presented, and the carrots were perfectly tender, easily cut with a fork. The sweetish note from the roasted pumpkin seeds added a great texture contrast, although the dish leaned a bit on the heavy side, and a touch of acidity could have balanced it out better.
For the main course, I had the Malaysian Laksa with Coconut Milk. Visually, the dish was stunning, with vibrant colors and a thoughtful presentation. The rice noodles were cooked to perfection, and the thinly sliced courgette strips were easy to eat. However, the soup had an unusual temperature balance—cool on top and hot at the bottom—which was a bit odd. I asked the waiter if the tofu was meant to be served cool, and he assured me that the laksa was prepared as it was intended. Despite being labeled as “spicy,” I didn’t notice much heat, and the tofu, while tasty, became chewy toward the end.
The restaurant itself looks really inviting, with warm lighting, spacious seating, and nicely painted brick walls that create a cozy atmosphere. Overall, my experience at Veganic was enjoyable, with some minor inconsistencies in temperature and flavor balance. Both the starter and the laksa were fresh and beautifully presented, but a bit more acidity (starter) and heat (main dish) could have enhanced the dishes. Still, Veganic remains a great spot for creative vegan cuisine in a...
Read moreWhile visiting Krakow, we of course had to find out if there are any vegan restaurants in the city. Knowing how much meat features in Polish cuisine we weren't expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out that Krakow is actually very welcoming to vegans! Veganic is in a trendy part of town, and looked like it has a good ambience so we decided to see if it lived up to the hype!
As soon as we walked in we were impressed by the decor - the lighting and plants along the walls gave a very welcoming, cosy feel. It was difficult to decide on a single item from the menu, which had a great selection for both vegans and vegetarians, and finally decided to go for the cauliflower steak, gnocchi, and sweet potato fries. It was our first time trying cauliflower steak, doubting that it would be very filling, but people always rave about them so we went for it! It certainly didn't disappoint, and it was far more delicious than expected too. While the gnocchi tasted amazing, it was very unevenly heated (hopefully not because it was microwaved) - one mouthful was slightly mild while the next almost burnt our tongue.
The service was friendly, with the food arriving quickly. Overall Veganic is a great vegetarian/vegan restaurant, and for the amount and quality of food we paid a very good price. We'd...
