You need to have this culinary experience! My partner and I are visiting on our honeymoon from Australia and wanted to have a fine dining experience the night before we left and I am so glad we did! We went on a Thursday night so it was a bit more of a quiet night (not complaining). We did make a booking to be sure we could get a table though. For fellow travellers this is an English friendly restaurant.
We ordered the tasting menu and loved absolutely every dish. We also got the beef tartare which was also a winner.
The chef's style is like a welcomed punch of flavours to the face (in the best way possible). The flavours are strong and by themselves maybe a bit too much but the absolutely pristine way in which he balanced them all out was just chef's kiss 🤌 you can tell there is love put into every dish and it tastes so good.
I have to admit that the froie gras was the number 1 for the night and I wish I came with an emptier stomach as the servings were quite generous for a tasting menu and my partner and I both very happy, also left very full.
We were also quite big fans of the polish white wine they had (Solaris).
Our server (Adam) was also amazing 👏 he was so funny, friendly, accommodating, helpful and was the "cherry on top" of this whole experience. The other wait staff were also very lovely, everyone did their best with explaining the dishes in English.
Thank you so much n.31 we will never...
Read moreAbsolute disappointment. It began with the wine, a Valpolicella that's usually a sure bet, and though it didn't taste so good at first I decided to give a chance, assuming that it needed some breathing and that a bad, cheap wine wouldn't be allowed into the wine list by the sommelier in a fine dining restaurant. My mistake. It is a cheap table wine priced at 50 USD that didn't get any better as time passed by. Fortunately I had the good sense to order a beer. The mushroom soup was very good, but the beef sirloin was mediocre at best. The meat itself was nothing special, undersalted, a bit hard and a bit cold, unlike the pure that was at room temperature. In a restaurant like n31 such things shouldn't happen and the plate should be warmed. The waiter only came to ask if everything was alright when I was done eating, and replaced the pure with a hot one, that I ate as dessert. Everything was charged in the bill, but we got a 10% discount which is like 40% of the price of the untouched wine. We paid 200 USD for a forgettable lunch for 2 people. I had a better experience at N31 many years ago, but I'm not...
Read moreThe dominant flavor in the dishes was salty. It didn't feel as complex or interesting as you would expect in upscale dining. I was excited about their tartar, which was fairly good, but I was confused about the presence of mayo and bacon in it. Why?? It seemed like chef used truffles and caviar as a crutch to male dishes appear upscale. Service was ok. We had to call them for everything. They didn't seem trained properly in fine dining serving. Constantly reaching over us and didn't feel gracious. The dining room felt like a messy living room in someone's house. Napkins and silverware on bar seats, other non decor items on plain sight. Entrees were nothing special, definitely not worth $50. No interesting flavors or cooking techniques. Deer carpaccio was great though, the most memorable dish. Desserts were probably the best part of the dinner. Very unique flavors and put together well. The only confusing thing was burning a piece of paper on top of the dessert. Didn't add any flavor and...
