Location-wise a Walker’s Paradise, but rooms are designed for heavy sleepers only
PLUSES: Location, Location, Location - seriously unbeatable! The very center of the city. Walkability score of 100%.
The room is nicely decorated in a modern, minimalist style.
The room was clean (except for the tiles in the bathroom).
Internet - free and good speed Wi-Fi.
Complimentary mineral water.
Check-out till 12:00.
MINUSES: Noisy building - noises coming from the hall, from the rooms above, and the rooms next door. I couldn't sleep even with my earplugs in.
No real AC!!! There is a weird cooling/heating system, but it is NOT a thermostat that you can set up for the desired temperature.
The design got crashed by a terrible idea to install Yale locks in brand new cabinets!!! Whoever came up with this idea put a knife into the designer's heart. I could not believe my eyes. It looks like an idea taken from the PRL's time.
Another PRL's-like-idea is the tablet attached to the wall unit. The tablet adjusts the lighting, makes calls, etc. This peculiar Command Center drove me crazy! Each time I stepped out of bed, the "Command Center" was automatically turning the lights on! I had to drag myself to it and click the tablet to turn them off. How crazy is that??? "Congrats" to the "genius" behind this idea.
Poor water temperature - the water was warm but not even close hot.
Poor bathroom lighting and no makeup lights.
Really tiny bathroom - too small to feel comfortable, especially that the ceiling is quite low.
The rain-shower was right above my head, and I am not tall.
The soap/shampoo dispensers didn't work properly, which is a pity since the smell and quality of the products was not bad.
The blackout curtains are not the best - I had to put my sleep mask on.
Terrible pillows - hard and high.
Poor service - the receptionists were quite inhospitable and not acquainted with the hotel. I understand it is a brand-new hotel, but it felt like the staff was missing proper training.
A nicely decorated lobby features a coffee machine espresso machine making cappuccinos, lattes, etc.
PRICE: *Room with a King Bed $88
TIP: If you decide to stay at Puro, I would definitely recommend getting a room at the, and of the hall and on the highest floor to limit the noises. If you mind the sleep-disturbing interruptions book a...
Read moreThis is one of the coolest hotels in the city. They have few more locations through out the Poland. Hotel is perfectly located , close to Chmielna where you can find a lot of places to drink or eat as well as the nightlife. Walking distance to Old city is about 25 minutes and about the same distance to Zlote Tarasy which is the big shopping center. The staff in the hotel is awesome and very well organized. You can ask for anything and you get it right away to your room. You can also acquire for bunch of things using the tablet in your room. The tablet is a great idea, you operate the sliding blinds, TV, room service , and you can use it in the morning as a regular tablet for browsing internet which I loved. The thermostat in the room does not show the actual temperature but you can lower or higher temperature by increments of 0.5 degree Celcius, up for hot down for colder. The rooms are perfect for two people , a lot of room to organize your stuff, bathrooms are nice. For the lights in the bathroom you need to press three times for the brightest light by the mirror (found it out on the second day :)) Beds are comfortable and every night we had a great sleep, blinds make the room complete blackout which is very important for light sleepers. You can ask for firmer pillows if needed. The key you use for the room, can be used downstairs for coffee machine, unlimited and different styles (espresso, late, cappucino, etc.) We did not try the breakfast but they are serving one every morning. The restautrant itself is nice as we tried it for a lunch, food was very delicious and outside patio is a plus. After the checkout you can easily leave your bags in the storage if your plane is later and that what we did. We also tried their spa massage for a couple and it was absolutely fantastic. The cost for two people including sauna and fruit drink is 499PLN for two people. You just need to go downstairs and reserve the spot as they are by appointment only. PURO is definitely my best choice for the Warsaw choice, we spent four nights and it was a great...
Read moreI usually try to post positive reviews but on PURO where here do I even begin.
Absolutely the worst customer service I've had at a 4 star hotel in Warsaw. I travel a lot and appreciate that service varies from country to country but for Poland, PURO is absurdly bad. The sad part is that the staff are generally lovely but it is clear they are not being supported, trained or empowered by the local hotel management. Every service request was fumbled and many staff just regarded guests as more of an annoyance.
On the other hand the owners have gone all in on a great design and technology (tablets controlling everything in my room). Some minor things to improve but overall really quite nice.
However the terrible customer service overshadowed this completely.
We were there as a group and every person had challenges. One had a cockroach in her room and the hotel offered to "vacuum" it away (anywhere else they would move you to another room). Another asked for a covid mask and was told they don't have any. Another waited for over 1 hour for a drink she ordered. I asked for the volume in an empty patio to be decreased (I was on a call) and told that they couldn't since it was management policy to play it. I asked them to at least change the station, and was told that it was a management playlist and that the waiter, with time, just learned to tune it out. Another person waited an hour to order a drink.
The running joke became to raise the latest screw up and then finish off by saying '... but the decor is fantastic!'
My advice would be simple, fire and replace the Warsaw hotel management and train & empower the staff on the ground to actually support the guests.
Until that happens it will just be a fancy looking building with a horrible...
