Mennicza 24 — Restaurant in Wrocław

Normally I am reluctant to leave a not-so-great review as I feel everybody needs a second chance and I have not had (or sought) an opportunity to speak to the management or do I have any inclination to go there for the second time. However, on this occasion I thought I'd make a few observations. I am leaving this one star for the quality of food (the other stars which are missing are for service, ambience, toilets, wine). My husband and I had a 7 course tasting menu with wine pairing. The dishes were great (some photos attached) with the exception of a couple of sauces which were far too salty. The missing star for ambience: the restaurant is beige, ash, and white. Very bland. The chair I was sitting on was stained. The restaurant is also connected to some hotel suites which meant that we had an unpleasant view of the cleaner cleaning the rooms. Even more bizarrely (and disturbingly), the cleaner was coming through the restaurant with some black plastic bin-liners whilst we were eating. On the third occasion, when she was coming through with a vacuum cleaner, she very gently apologised...:-) A little bit of a Fawlty Towers scenario. The service: the girl who served us was really very nice & helpful but not well trained. She served as the bar person, the waitress and the sommelier. And, as you can imagine, through no fault of her own, she excelled at none of the above. OK, we were the only 2 people in the restaurant at 2pm but I thought for a 5 star hotel it should not make that much of a difference. Oh, and I perhaps should mention the wine pairing... the choices were rather poor and not well connected with the food. This, however, could be subjective - I urge the management to review their wine list though. All-in, at PLN800+ for the tasting menu for 2 at a 5 star hotel I felt I am not...

Miałem okazję odwiedzić tą restaurację próbując menu degustacyjnego (5 dań). Zawiodłem się po całości. Opiszę sytuacje w punktach dla jasności: Na wstępie powitała nas obsługa - czułem się jakbym wszedł do wiejskiej gospody, a nie topowej restauracji w które mam zostawić więcej niż tysiąc zł. Sposób przywitania, komunikacji pozostawiał wiele do życzenia. Zaznaczam, że nie chodzi tutaj o wystrój restauracji tylko o obsługę. Degustacja wina, która jest dobrą praktyką zanim zdecydujemy się na nie? Niestety nie tym razem. Pani kelnerka nalała cały kieliszek wina gdzie potem zorientowała się co zrobiła i zapytała czy próbujemy. Kolejny etapem była degustacja jedzenia - należało się samodzielnie dopytywać się co mamy przyjemność spróbować przy danym daniu, gdyż nie zawsze to zostało powiedziane. Kolejna kwestia to brak znajomości menu Pani kelnerki. Musiała odchodzić od nas, wracać do karty aby sprawdzić z czego składa się dane danie tłumacząc się tym, że jest już zmęczona obracając to jeszcze w żart!!!! Przy rezerwacji samej kolacji było umówione, że dla jednej z osób mają być to posiłki nastawione na ryby natomiast dla reszty nastawione na mięso. Oczywiście, że zostało to całkowicie zignorowane, a ryba w ogóle się nie pojawiła na naszym stole. Odnośnie jedzenia - poprawnie wykonane dania i tyle. Nic nadzwyczajnego, nic powalającego. Na pewno nie jest to dla mnie coś co bym zjadł ponownie. Wiele smaków znanych. Na koniec, co podsumowało tylko kompetencje całej obsługi, to proces wystawiania faktury. Na kartce obsługa otrzymała wszystkie niezbędne dane do faktury. Próba numer 1 - wiele literówek, a nawet niepoprawna ulica. Po chwili przyszedł do mnie Pan, który zapytał się co jest nie tak i "jak ma to być" mając kartkę na, które wszystko czarno na białym. W tym momencie ręce całkowicie mi opadły. Po skończeniu kolacji i opłaceniu jej nawet nie usłyszeliśmy prostego dziękuję i gdybyśmy nie powiedzieli do widzenia to nikt by nas nie pożegnał.

Podsumowując - cała ta restauracja to jeden wielki żart. Nie mam pojęcia skąd aż 4,5 gwiazdek w opiniach na Google. Jestem niezmiernie rozczarowany szczególnie poziomem obsługi gościa. Czułem się jakbym przyszedł do baru mlecznego i tym akcentem zakończę...

I am disappointed…starting from the place itself - looks like from 90s and I don’t even talk about the mess behind the bar, which looks super unprofessional. Service - I would expect that in the restaurant of 5-stars hotel, there will be the person, who is speaking English. Also, it would be great if they wouldn’t stand behind the bar scrolling their phones. Drinks - well, let’s say that serving prosecco from Biedronka (original price 25 pln) for 120 PLN…😊 Meal (looks better than it tastes) - scallops, fine. Tartare - without any taste. To be fair - tagliatelle was okayish, al dente, the octopus was tasty, mussels could be better. Souffle was good. Overall - this is definitely not the fine...
