Recommended by our hotel. We were promptly seated. The atmosphere is nice. Menu is big, not too many options but enough. First issue with the server was that we had to remind him we asked for bread, butter and olives to start. We waited a short time for our entrees, they came separately. Biggest issue was that once served our meals, no wine, had to ask twice. No server whatsoever after that. He was too busy putting the TV on to watch the football games. We finished and waited, and waited and waited. Other tables had the same issue. Finally after 20+ minutes of getting aggravated and seeing him behind the counter, I stood up and went to the counter and told him I would like to leave. He looks at me, turns to another server to discuss something in Portuguese. That's when I lost it. I told him after all this, just give me my check so I can leave. He does that, no apologies, no excuses, doesn't say anything. I pay and leave. Too bad since the food was actually good to have it ruined by such lack of care for...
Read moreThis restaurant was recommended by our hotel. We were looking forward to a nice meal. We thought the Paella sounded good. We waited an hour for it to arrive. There were only two of us. The pan was set on our table. It had one large prawn and two small ones. It was supposed to have scallops also. We dug through the mountain of rice and found two very small ones. We were very surprised that it was basically all rice. We talked to the waitress (who was very nice). She talked to the owner who told her that we wouldn’t have to pay. Then five minutes later came back to the table and said that the owner changed his mind and we were going to be charged the whole amount. 40EUR! I asked to talk to him. He came over and admitted that the paella wasn’t made correctly but he didn’t care. We couldn’t believe it. We said we would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and would inform our hotel. He shrugged and walked off. If you come here, please beware. We will...
Read moreA truly great night. My wife and I were lucky and got the last available table without a reservation. The food was delicious. We trusted our friendly young waiter and chose the sauted mushroms as one of our starters. So rich in flavour. The prawns in garlic was also nice. They had a lamb dish in the oven not listed on the menu. I chose this and didn't regret it. My wife's grilled octopus was tender and nice too, as was the salad. A group of musicians arrived at a table and had som food. We were told to stay longer as they were about to perform fado later in the evening. After the first set we considered pay and leave for the evening. The owner came and let us pay but insisted we stayed as there would be more foado. He put a bottle of local liquor, O Poejo do Sharish, on the table and let us taste. What a wonderful...
