Pastelaria d'Avó Adélia — Restaurant in Óbidos

We asked to get a small treat so that we could use the restroom and were told we needed to pay 5€. It was a bit strange, but we bought some pastel de natas (were made to buy 3 instead of 1). They were okay, but the service was overall not good. The waitress was very rude. She didn't provide us with a key, following buying food, and scolded me when I used the men's washroom key (a singular bathroom), and then as I was leaving, scolded me and asked if I had locked the bathroom again, and rolled her eyes. July 11, 2023, came in family of 4 for a scoop of ice cream each. Selected euros to pay with Canadian credit card but store staff made a huge fuss, cancelled the transaction and insisted we pay in Canadian. Not sure why… we have not had this issue with any other store, cafe or restaurant anywhere in Portugal so far. Ice creams tasted fine but were tiny and hollow scooped. Feel duped and weirded out at their credit card foreign currency insistance… Can anyone provide insight as to why they were adamant about being paid in Canadian...

There was no soap in the restrooms (neither men's nor ladies'). I asked the staff if I could get some soap. She said yes, but nothing happened. I asked again, she told me 'later' and 'I'm sorry'. Then the place got pretty full so I didn't ask again. The food wasn't great either, but the hygiene is concerning, they don't seem to care and it makes one think how (if?) employees wash their hands, and they prepare...
