Buddy's Restaurant Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Albufeira

We found this restaurant via fourSquare and the reviews had led me to feel this was going to be a good experience. Unfortunately this was not the case and we had to wait 35 minutes for our food. This was not ideal and a bit bizzare given there was hardly anyone in the restaurant... A sweet old lady said we had been waiting ages for our food which was a bit comical but not as comical as the microwave chips that came out. It’s fair to say we waited a very long time for food that was cold, the waitress was very unapologetic and we had to repeat our orders to them so that they could go back in the kitchen and check everything was in order. The bill was expensive so we naturally wanted to split this between each person but were told we couldn’t do this unless we spent a minimum of £10. We weren’t impressed with the customer service, quality of food or the general vibe and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who cares about customer values. After a long day walking the coastline of Albufeira we settled in here for some evening sustenance. Amidst a plethora of other 'steakhouses' although admittedly given the time of year many were closed or under heavy renovations for the Summer, this place was busy when we started, large gas lamps gave a warmth to the otherwise chilly March evening on the Algarve. A good selection of food and drink and not as pricey as you might think given the location, certainly compared to others we had perused the menus of. A tad dissapointed that the Calamari looked like those frozen packet of Youngs we can buy at home, didn't seem fresh from the ocean and hand battered (not that it was advertised as such mind) given the proximity to the marina perhaps we had expected more. absolutely do not go here. my partner and i ordered surf & turf and my steak came out grey. we asked the waiter why it was grey and he said "because it's medium rare". never in my life have i had a medium rare steak be as grey as my boyfriends shorts. the waiters also stand and stare at you and it's incredibly uncomfortable. there has definitely been a decline in the food given that my partner and i went here last year and it was delicious but i have to say, i am thoroughly disappointed. after we left, i read other reviews that mentioned grey meat so it's worth noting it seems to be a frequent thing. there are many delicious steak houses & restaurants around albufeira old town but Buddy's is NOT...
