Joseph’s Bar, situated a couple of blocks from the Cerro Mar Hotel above the ‘old town’ in Albufeira, is outstanding!! During our stay in Albufeira we visited Joseph 4 different times for our evening meal on his restaurant terrace. You will not only love the food, but also Joseph’s hospitality as you enjoy a lovely leisurely meal. We tried the lamb chops (6 huge ones), the veal, the steak, the lasagna, and, on our last visit, the Cataplana (a Portuguese specialty). All were delicious, but the Cataplana was amazing! (Just note that if you wish to do a Cataplana dinner you need to make a reservation in advance for it.). A must have with any dinner at Joseph’s is the garlic baguette – YUM! Best meal we've had in Albufeira! Beautiful atmosphere with sea views, overlooking a garden and pool area, tables spread out and very chilled vibe. Even the local Portuguese eat here which is a wonderful sign of quality food. Exceptional service, the owner Joseph is so friendly, his wife is an incredible cook. Definitely order the mussels as a starter, delish! For mains we had peppered steak, tuna house style, kids had lasagna and hamburger. All 4 dishes we're lovely, particularly the peppered steak & tuna. Joseph kindly gave us a free glass of white port after our meals which was a lovely gesture. What can I say, an absolute gem of a find. We are staying nearby and googled nearby restaurants and came across Joseph's. Opens at 5pm so decided to try. We weren't disappointed, food was beautiful. We ordered the garlic bread to start then the lamb chops and the steak with mushrooms, the steak was one of the best steaks I've ever tasted. So good we plan to go back before we go home.
