Louro&Salsa — Restaurant in Albufeira

Really looking forward to this place reopening, as it was recommended. However, one meal was fantastic and the other was?? Told the waiter about the prawns not being fresh. Was told no where gives fresh prawns. Frozen prawns then cooked. Of course I know that but each one was flat, not ready to eat tonight( yesterday?)I couldn’t find the words to explain that they had a flat, like sawdust taste and texture not plump flesh. Maybe they were ready for cataplans and not for the prawn dish. Everything else was fantastic but could only give 3 stars. Deserts looked amazing with good selection. I have added a photo of decent “ fresh “ prawns for another restaurant, nearby!! The waiter just wanted to argue, but all I wanted was for him to listen and not tell me about my palate. He couldn’t accept that they were off, not a taste issue ( palate) why would I order something that wasn’t my liking.I took a bite out of each one and still the same taste. He kept saying he was going to refund rather than acknowledge or even look at the texture of the flat prawns which I was served. But as shown, a lot of other nearby restaurants can serve decent prawns. I was going to return for the fish dish as it was good but his attitude was unpleasant. Don’t like the vibe! Especially having left a really decent tip almost as much as dish, but just read the comments and it makes sense that he could not take a real criticism. Slagging me as a cheap holiday maker… oops. I can't speak highly enough!! The staff and service was excellent!! We had the garlic prawn starter with garlic mozzarella bread which was divine! Infact it was so good that we had to order more bread for dipping. The mains was the best fish I've had for a long time. My mother got the soul which was delicious and we shared the traditional Portuguese Seafood with rice which we couldn't finish!! But we enjoyed every mouthful! A super selection of seafood all freshly caught. My daughter had the Bolognese which she polished off easily. They looked after us extremely well and we met all the staff throughout the meal. I had read on the reviews at the sangria was the best in Albufeira and I have to say I completely agree! We got the red Sangria which was beautiful and even the bar man checked to see we were happy with it! My fish was even boned in front of us.. We first visited this place in 2015, when it was called Restaurant Expresso. We were on a 2 week holiday and it was Christmas New Year, when many restaurants were closed, which was just as well as we ate here half the time and loved it. There was always something different to try, all lovely food, great wine also and looked after well by Miguel, who's family business it is. We were passing through a couple of nights ago and knew exactly where we would eat and were not disappointed. The restaurant is bigger now, more staff, all friendly professional and attentive. The food and wine again did not let us down and it was lovely to see the place so busy, and popular, despite there being so many other places open now.
