You know you’re in for a wild ride when ten grown men on a stag do collectively agree that a place called Mr Rib sounds like the spiritual centre of their meat-based pilgrimage. Nestled in the heart of Albufeira, where the Atlantic breeze whispers promises of grilled greatness, we stumbled across what might just be the holy grail of all you can eat experiences: wings and ribs for €19.95. I mean, come on €19.95? That’s less than a round of pints and a packet of crisps at Stansted Airport.
As we opened the menu, we were met with a message that instantly buttered our emotional toast:
“Since I was young, my dream was to open a restaurant. A restaurant which gives you the feeling of home and treats you as part of the family…”
Reader, we wept. Okay, not actual tears, but there were definitely emotional ripples in our beer. It was like watching the end of The Shawshank Redemption, but with more barbecue sauce. This wasn’t just dinner. This was destiny. Mr Rib had fulfilled his calling and by the look in his eye and the tongs in his hand, he knew it.
Then came the man himself. Mr Rib. Part chef, part philosopher, part uncle you never knew you needed. He welcomed us like long lost cousins returning from a hard day’s dragon slaying. He spoke about his dream, and we nodded like disciples. The vibe? Somewhere between a Greek taverna, a Texas smokehouse, and your nan’s kitchen if your nan served smoked meat by the kilo and wore aviators.
Now, let’s talk ribs and wings. Oh, the ribs. Meaty enough to require two hands, tender enough to make a grown man hum love songs. Each bite felt like a smoky hug from a cloud made of hickory. The wings? Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside like little angels deep fried in flavour. We devoured them like cavemen discovering fire. Piled high like Mount Olympus, our plates were monuments to indulgence. Chips and salad came along for the ride crunchy, golden, and valiantly attempting to make us feel better about eating our bodyweight in meat.
The service? Impeccable. The staff moved like graceful ninjas, refilling plates with the precision of surgeons and the joy of people who know they’re part of something special. No eye rolls, no time wasted. Just pure, unadulterated hospitality.
And when the dust settled, we looked at each other bellies round, spirits high, wallets still pleasantly plump and we knew: we had found the promised land.
As the attached photo clearly shows, we left smiling like lads who had just met the culinary equivalent of a unicorn. If meat is your religion, Mr Rib is your temple.
10/10. Would let Mr...
Read moreI ate here on the evening of 25/4/24 and was extremely impressed and pleased with the restaurant, the staff and the food. I ordered the All You Can Eat wings and ribs. This came with fries and salad. A quarter rack of ribs (approx) is also on the plate along with 4 wings. Upon consuming these I simply requested more be brought and a similar quantity of each is offered, very quickly, on a side plate and so on until you have had your fill. The ribs are excellent with a sweet, but not overwhelming BBQ sauce. The meat falls off the bones and is juicy and very tender. The same applies to the wings which - like the ribs - are served piping hot and slathered in a lightly spiced sauce. My wife had a steak and mushroom sauce and it was cooked exactly as she requested in a VERY generous portion also included fries and salad. Total bill was €50 and for the amount I ate that was and absolute bargain!! The staff were very friendly, attentive and quick to respond when asked for drink refills and hot sauce etc. We were seated around 5pm and it was relatively quiet at that time, so busy times may result in longer waits so please allow and prepare for that.. I would very highly recommend this...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Mr Ribs-Ribs & Wings, and I must say, it was an experience to remember! The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, perfectly seasoned, and slathered in a rich, tangy barbecue sauce that had just the right balance of sweetness and spice. Each bite left me craving more. The wings were equally impressive. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The variety ensured that there was something for everyone, and each flavor was executed to perfection.
The service was top-notch. Our server was attentive, and the food arrived promptly and was hot and fresh. And the best part? They offer an all-you-can-eat option, allowing you to indulge in as many ribs and wings as your heart desires, making it a paradise for any meat lover.
In conclusion, Ribs & Wings quickly became one of my favorite dining spots in Albufeira. With its outstanding food, excellent service, and inviting atmosphere, it’s a place that truly lives up to its name. I can't wait to return and indulge in more of their...
