I usually do not comment, but this was comical. Trying not to come off as the American that expects to be waited on, but.... The hostess seemed confused with our request for a table. Probably the language barrier, no issue. After 15-20 minutes we had to flag down the waiter for our drink order, she didn't know the drink menu, but no issue. Soon after, a different waiter shows up to take our dinner order. He seemed very stressed and hurried. He was not rude, but it was not professional. Then, we waited forever for our appetizers. Maybe 45 minutes. We finished the apps, and no one came by to clean the table for a long time. No one ever stopped by for a drink refresher or water. As they were cleaning the apps, another order of the same apps shows up. They tried to hide the confusion but it was obvious. Then, we wait again. No drinks, no water. Finally, after 2 hours there total, I flagged the waitress and politely asked if there is any hope of being served soon, (it was after 10 PM). She got aggressive and implied that we ordered appetizers. Therefore, they don't start cooking our meal until the appetizers are finished. Remember, we waited for someone to clean up the apps. I asked her if it was appropriate to imply this situation my fault. She got offended. She said she would get the manager, but didn't. She checked the kitchen and said we are after 2 orders in the queue. Apparently, that was wrong because the food came out right after. But, they didn't bring my wife's order. Instead, they brought a plate for her to share with our daughter. They scrambled to cook the missing chicken dinner. The food was fine. Nothing great, but wasn't expected. 3 other tables near us sent their food back. One woman was overheard saying "This is just terrible". Great resort, but get it together Piri Piri. I always blame management for these missteps. Nowhere...
Read moreI stayed at the Pine Cliffs hotel and ate here two weeks ago. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and would suggest eating off-resort to anyone planning on going.
Pros: Location was convenient for the resort and the outdoor setting are the only reason this rating 2 stars and not 1. It’s a nice area.
Cons: Food was very bland and overpriced for what we received. See attached for a photo of my “medium rare” steak that basically came straight from the butcher shop to my plate. For 58 euro, I was expecting something with more flavour and for the cook to be right. I’ve had better steak at Applebee’s, so don’t go here if you have high expectations. We also had the piri piri chicken which was honestly more disappointing than the steak; zero flavour to it.
I reached out to the hotel about my experience, and they offered me a champagne voucher (two glasses!) for my next visit. They also assumed that because I left a tip, I was “satisfied with the service”. More like I was just trying to be polite. A total rip off to be charging the prices they do for the quality of the food that is served.
Will never make use of the free champagne voucher because I can’t say I’d ever come back. It’s a shame that this restaurant took away from our brief time at Pine Cliffs, but even more of a shame for people who buy into the timeshares and have Piri Piri as their steakhouse option. Do yourself a favor and...
Read moreI have to be honest here, this is the worst value for money I've ever experienced in dining out. I have zero problem paying for "GOOD" food, but this was just terrible.
Staff were lovely and very nice to our daughter, but it was 250eur for 2 adults and a toddler, the steak was badly cooked and as it was a big steak it came diced on a wood board instead of a warm plate so went cold instantly, the meet quality was questionable enough for my partner to consider not eating it and we both felt a little off afterwards.
Spoke to two couples at the pool in Pinecliffs afterwards and the reviews were the same.
Pinecliffs on the whole is not great value for food, but the other food we had was at least enjoyable- this is a complete rip off and down at the very bottom of the list for steaks I've ever had.
We walked 200 feet down the road to Casa Do Frango (Piri Piri Chicken) tonight and had the tastiest meal we've had all week for €65. Do...
