Sugar Rabbit Kaffé — Restaurant in Albufeira

Poor service, the guy wasn’t aware of his surroundings (or just didn’t care for us). We waited for an hour minutes or maybe more. Took 10 minutes to get acknowledge. This isn’t including looking at the menu. Doesn’t make it clear that you sit to be served. It was like we was suppose to know this. He didn’t like eye contact, was hard to get his attention (I couldn’t get his attention at all). I waited and waited for a long time for my drink (it wasn’t busy). The iced matcha was grainy (badly made). It also came hot when my partner said iced, so he didn’t listen. He also before this when finally taking an order asked who was first as another couple was next to us. But yet later gave a drink to them first…so why ask. The drink had no care put into it, didn’t do it properly. Was bland. How they he can mess up a drink like that means he’s clueless about how to make the drink. The food then came many minutes later. Waiting and waiting….and waiting. The avocado on toast was bland, very strong taste of lime. The salad on the side looked awful, I didn’t touch it. Bland and unappealing. The bathroom was strange…had basically a large twig, painted pink in a basket with random white cloth. Was just weird. The place from the outside is one big trick. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. The guy had poor customer service skills. The music was loud too. I would give it half a star. People seem to call this place a vegan spot but it isn’t. I seem to have got unlucky here which is a pity as it’s highly rated. Service extremely poor as only one guy working behind counter and bringing out the food, taking orders etc. was seated 20 mins before even getting a menu , very small inside and was full (6-8 people) so delays were inevitable with only one person doing it all. We both Ordered food and iced coffees. 25 mins later my partners food and both iced coffees came out. Not sure why the iced coffees weren’t brought out sooner as we were just sitting waiting with nothing. My partner had finished his meal and I was still waiting for my food. Waited another 10mins before I asked where my food was as my partner had already finished his meal. The waiter was Not one bit apologetic, told me it was busy and 6 people were ahead of me for pancakes , he made it seem like it was unreasonable for me to even ask where my food was after 45 mins of waiting. Another 10-15mins went by and finally my food came. Again No apology just it was busy and others had ordered pancakes and they can only make 3 at at time. Not good enough in my eyes. Don’t provide a service if you can’t fulfill it and have me waiting 1 hour while my partners lunch was long gone before I even got mine. No apology and total brunch was €32.50 for terrible service. If you can’t staff a place and keep up with orders then don’t offer them. 1hr in total spent just waiting and no apology and rude. Food was fine but service ruined...

This little café quickly became one of my favorite stops on my morning walks in Albufeira. Conveniently located in the Old Town as you head toward the Marina, it’s right on the path of my daily trek from Praia de Oura to the Marina. By the time I reach it, I’m ready for a pause, and the wonderful aroma of freshly baked brownies, cakes, and pastries is impossible to resist.

The coffee here is outstanding — they serve Illy, one of my favorite Italian brands, and every cup is consistently rich, creamy, and full of flavor. It’s the perfect energy boost, and for me, Illy is always a mark of quality.

As for the sweets, I instantly fell in love with the decadent brownies and the indulgent chocolate cake. Beyond that, the menu also includes a great selection of vegan and gluten-free options — from colorful smoothie bowls to fresh juices — which makes it a versatile stop whether you’re after a treat or something lighter.

The café itself is small but inviting, with a handful of tables on the terrace outside, ideal for people-watching, and additional seating inside. It’s not overly large, but the atmosphere is warm and never feels cramped.

All in all, Sugar Rabbit Kaffé is a true gem in Albufeira. Whether you’re passing by on a morning walk, craving an excellent cup of Illy coffee, or looking to indulge in something sweet, it’s well...
