Whoa, the worst restaurant experience in Portugal so far! Came to the entrance that was closed with the chain. No one was there, first I thought the place is closed (for an event?) since it was almost empty, one two tables taken. I got seated to find a pre-made shrimp salad, covered with cling film on my table. The waiter said it was optional to take it or not (first I thought they add it to all orders by default 🤔). Weird move, but I was quite hungry, so I decided to give it a try, also, I love shrimps and salads. However, the smell and taste was saying that it has already started to spoil, well, dunno how many time was it standing there at the table under the sun during that warm September day. Regarding the smell - waiter said that was because of vinegar. I would say, everyone knows how does vinegar smell, hard to mistake here, right? That was clearly not a vinegar smell. Honors to them, they didn't add the salad to the bill. The clam cream soup was just not good. Very salty, stratchy, with oozy texture and something that had looked like pieces of seafood or maybe veggies, but dissolved once I put it in my mouth. Made impression of something industrially produced and then just stirred in hot water at the kitchen. Ah, yeah, there was one clam and it was normal. Mixed salad was mediocre, but comparing to the other stuff I had it was blessing :) A glass of Vinho...
Read moreWe recently dined at a restaurant in Lisbon and had an overall pleasant experience, though there were a couple of things worth mentioning for future visitors.
The ambiance was lovely, and the presentation of the dishes was nice. However, the fish, while well-prepared, didn't quite match the freshness we had anticipated based on online images and reviews.
An unexpected moment occurred when a small octopus salad, accompanied by butter in two flavours, sardine and tuna purées, and cheese, was placed on our table. In many restaurants, such items are complimentary, so we assumed they were included. To our surprise, we were charged for them. When we raised the issue, the staff kindly removed the charge from our bill, which we appreciated. Nonetheless, clearer communication about such items would have been helpful.
Additionally, we encountered some difficulty communicating in English, which might be a consideration for other international guests.
In summary, while our meal was enjoyable, we recommend being mindful of any items placed on your table and confirming their cost beforehand. Overall this place is worth to...
Read moreMy sisters and I went to this restaurant and as the server was dropping the food off at the table, we over hear her ask if we were gringas to the other server. This is completely unacceptable. We can fully understand Portuguese but are not fluent in speaking it. My sister called her out, and 2 minutes later we have another server ask us if we want mayo or ketchup (this is odd because usually they just bring it to the table) but she purposely asked to see if and how much we understood Portuguese and then went back to the server who called us gringas to say we don’t understand a lot. Who treats their guests like this? We asked for the bill 3 times and it was like they were teasing us the whole time. When it came to pay, they charged us for butter and double charged our meals. It is not usual to be charged for butter for the bread and to double charge our meals (obviously). The experience here was absolutely disgusting, and should never happen to anyone. So unfriendly and the worst experience we ever had here in Caparica. Avoid this place...
