Aveiro has some pretty good restaurants, and many serve very good food. A Tasca do Confrade is a good restaurant and serves good food. But with my recent visit to the 'Tasca', it was more than just a meal.
The entrees were all very good - sausages and cold octopus. The menu offered a good variety of meat and fish dishes. The squid with shrimp (what I had) was well served (could have been served a bit hotter, but it passed); the cataplana with pork and shrimp looked great, and the 'bife a confrade' looked excellent. The big plus was the sangria de espumante - best sangria I've had. And to top it all off - this being the reason of the title - the service was fantastic: the waiter always had a smile on his face and constantly interacted with us in a friendly way.

The food however was disappointing and not because it wasn’t well cooked or served, but you could feel that the quality of the ingredients is very low. We ordered the grilled cod fish and it was very dry and tasteless, exactly like a cheap frozen fish from the most random supermarket.
