The best Chinese food restaurant I know in Portugal!, and the one with the best ratio quality/price, with no doubt (I think it stays along ~100 EUR or less for 3 adults, which for its quality is a very good price, and included drink, dessert, coffee ...)
The menu is very vast, we've already tasted some dozen dishes, and up until now we got no deception ever!,
All kinds of meat are used, you can also opt for vegetarian dishes, rice or other kinds of side dishes, starters, teas for drinking along with the food to help digesting- but unlikely to other lower quality Chinese restaurants, I've never found Estoril Mandarim's food too heavy or greasy or fat. Everything has their own traditional condiments but nothing too excessive. And in any case, if you don't appreciate some dish, there's no problem, as normally in Chinese restaurants the group picks some dishes and shares them all, picking a bit of each of them.
On Sundays it also has 2 dozens of Dim Sum dishes more adding up to the other usual menu à la carte
There's a lot of seats and some private rooms, and a semi-esplanade, and at least if you go to restaurants early like me (this is one of the few restaurants opening as early as 12h00) it serves generally fast, in 1 hour we are done.
Staff is also friendly and not annoying (don't stop asking too much if you...
Read moreOne of the better Chinese Restaurants in this area - unfortunately that's not saying much, because the standard of Chinese Restaurants in Portugal is abysmal - I've lived here for 4 years and have yet to find a good one. In the UK this would be very average - the food is bland and extortionately priced. It's a shame because the decor is very attractive and the location is stunning, service is fine and friendly the Chef is the problem - I can cook better at home. Also with Asian food I like to order several dishes and share - this was a nightmare here because they put 4 of us on a tiny table - ruins the experience and is silly in such a large half empty premises. Hot & Sour soup was neither hot nor sour, had to add lots of soy sauce to taste anything, Prawns in Hot sauce was the only good dish (not spicy but is tasty), I usually love Salt & Pepper Squid but their version was awful came in a sweet vanilla batter. Their Peking duck is OK but very expensive and they do not serve half portions which is very irritating if a...
Read moreOur 8-person group had a great lunch at the Mandarim today. Started with assorted dim sum. Although they have a long list, all pieces were fresh and tasty. Then the assorted main dishes were also great. Since we stuck to the basic dishes and had only three bottles of the house white, the total was under 25 euros a head including a generous tip.
Disclosure: Before moving to Cascais, we lived in the San Francisco area for 30 years. We know what great dim sum is.
9-Sep-21 update: Our lunch bunch has been back three times since end of the Summer. Still great. One of our favorites, Vegetables over Crispy Noodles, is not on the menu - just ask! Also, their house white (B.S.E) is perfect with lunch at...
