Roots Cafe Pizzeria — Restaurant in Cascais

Roots has an excellent and diverse menu. We stumbled upon it by chance, but it was the perfect peaceful, clean, welcoming and cozy place to grab a bite after a windy day of walking along the coast. The hosts were polite and friendly, and spoke good English. The menu was great with awesome fresh food, lots of Vegan options to choose from, and a real nice change from the usual menus from tourist restaurants. 5 people eating each a sizeable portion (1 avocado toast with poached egg, 1 smoked salmon/cream cheese wrap, 2 granola and fruits smoothies, and 1 season's salad, plus 1 large plate of French fries and 3 drinks) all for 43 euros, that was great value, for high quality food! One of our favorite Family places in Cascais. The owner and staff are (kid) friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Our first time we arrived with friends and they readily set us up with a large table for 10. All of our individual preferences were available, from our Muslim friends Halal requirements, to Vegan, a well seasoned chop and our now personal favorite - their "Signature" - Salmon Pizza; best one this Brooklyn Boy has ever tasted. They forgot to secure their terrace ambrellas that got lifted up in the air and the fell on me and the table flipping my chair over and slamming me against the wall with my neck and head. I wasn't really hurt and had a bit of a luck I guess. All food was ruined and I had coffee stains on my clothes and backpack. The offered me a new coffe and pancakes.
