A great concept, but some major details to improve
We’re thrilled to see Honest Greens open in Cascais! The concept is fantastic, the decor is beautiful, and the atmosphere is very inviting. It’s the kind of place the city needed, and we even came back two days in a row with our kids.
That being said, while the concept is exciting, the overall experience has turned out to be disappointing due to several issues: • My salad (a mesclun mix) was partly wilted, with some damaged leaves. With this type of greens, careful sorting is essential. • The sauce for the piri-piri chicken (a pico de gallo with diced tomatoes and pineapple) lacked freshness, especially the tomatoes. • The halloumi bowl had undercooked chickpeas and squash—and no halloumi! • The roasted aubergine, which was perfectly cooked yesterday, was undercooked today, making it difficult to enjoy. • The sweet potato fries were soft, either undercooked or left too long at the pass. • Lastly, the strawberry-ginger lemonade had a slightly slimy texture and unusual fizziness.
What’s more shocking is that we saw staff changing the very same juice. When we mentioned to them that it wasn’t good (after my sons had already drunk two glasses), they admitted it wasn’t fresh and that they were replacing it. However, no one apologized or offered us a replacement or refund. Where are the managers? In what kind of restaurant is this considered normal behavior?!
The service overall felt sluggish and lacked energy, which is surprising for a grand opening. A bit more enthusiasm and friendliness would really help reflect the fresh, modern image the place is aiming for.
It’s a shame, as I was genuinely looking forward to coming back regularly, but this overall experience left me feeling negative. I’ll wait to see how the restaurant reacts and whether improvements are made before deciding whether to return. The vision and ambition behind Honest Greens are promising, but execution matters...
Read moreVery disappointed by our experience at Honest Greens Cascais.
We ordered two portions of pancakes and only realized after starting to eat that all pancakes were burnt on the bottom—clearly placed burnt-side down to hide it. I immediately informed the staff member who took our order. He said he would come to our table but never did. After waiting 15 minutes, I went back to the counter, where I was told that breakfast service had ended and I could only get a slice of cake. That is not an acceptable replacement. I insisted, and they said they would try to make new pancakes. After another 15 minutes—still nothing. We left without any resolution.
Burnt food can happen. But hiding it and ignoring the customer is unacceptable and deeply disrespectful. I have pictures and will share them here and on social media. I hope the management takes this seriously.
What makes this worse is that I used to be a regular customer and actually liked the place in the beginning. But like many places, once they became successful and crowded, quality and quantity started to decline. (For example, their Turkish eggs used to include 3 eggs—now it’s just 2 for the same price.)
Now they’ve reached a point where even the attitude is off: arrogance and lack of care for the customer. Please avoid this place.
After this awful experience, we went to Unity Coffee Roasters instead, and had a wonderful experience. Highly...
Read moreI recently visited Honest Greens in Cascais, and unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. For a restaurant that prides itself on honesty, they are definitely missing the mark. We spent around €42, but apart from the kombuchas, water, and banana bread, everything else was disappointing.
Let’s start with the Warm Halloumi. If you’re expecting a proper serving of halloumi, be warned—you’ll only find four small, date-sized pieces and one slightly larger piece. The rest of the plate is filled with other ingredients that completely overshadow the halloumi. I brought this up with the cashier, and not only did they ignore me at first, but when I finally got their attention, I was told that if I wanted more halloumi, I’d have to pay extra. Keep in mind, the dish is literally called Warm Halloumi. Despite my attempt to explain my frustration, the staff dismissed me and began chatting with a colleague, ignoring me completely.
As for the Vanilla-Caramel Cupcake, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone—especially not to diabetics or children. I gave one to my daughter, and thankfully, she refused to eat it. The sweetness was overwhelming, to the point of being unpleasant.
Overall, I cannot recommend Honest Greens to anyone. The poor service, misleading portions, and overly sweet desserts made this one of the most disappointing dining...
