O Goivo — Restaurant in Castelo de Vide

My husband and I were walking by O Goivo as we saw the cook preparing chicken on the outside grill and immediately knew we had to sit for lunch. While we don’t speak Portuguese, we were able to understand from the manager that the chicken would be ready about 30 minutes later so after taking a little walk we were welcomed back for one of the best meals we’ve ever had in Portugal. We were on our honeymoon and we wanted to stop by and eat at this place.We went in and tried to ask if we can order.we do not speak Portuguese so we asked IN Portuguese if sb speaks English. The moment we said that the owner or sb that looked like the owner was became very unfriendly and immediately Left waving to the waiter to tell us to go.we asked if we can order. The waiter said he will ask. He went to ask the previous guy and he immediately said no. Very very bad. We could not believe it....

My wife and I entered the restaurant this afternoon and were told that the restaurant was closed. We asked the barman when it would open and he replied “jantar” we asked 3 times at what time dinner started. “As que horas vocês servem jantar?” At what time do you serve dinner? The barman would not tell us. We left …..we will never go back and would not recomed the Goivo to anyone who wishes to be treated politely.
