Choco & Nut — Restaurant in Faro

We visited this dessert venue in the hopes that we could have a nice end to the evening.

We ordered 'churros' off the menu expecting these to be somewhat decent. The churros were made with waffle batter, pressed and cut into the shape of churros. The definition of a churro according to Google is a 'sweet Spanish snack consisting of a strip of fried dough dusted with sugar or cinnamon' - the only part of this description that was accurate was the dusting of sugar. The batter itself was overly-eggy and dried out. We had ordered the portion of churros with Nutella and were presented with a measly amount for which we requested more - a staff member informed us this was a €1.40 surcharge which we found to be extortionate and declined another helping.

We then tried our luck with the 'marshmallow' ice cream which tasted of gritty bubblegum.

The decor itself was more or less fine, save for the low hanging lamps which I noticed a few other customers had hit their heads on...

Serves delicious desserts, drinks and everything a Nutella addict would love. Definitely not for the faint of heart. It's a bit small and has very few seats available inside so it's not very cozy during winter season if you happen to stay outside. Even though they offer blankets and have a protective fence around the patio, it's still pretty cold. Can get very crowded during the afternoon/evening and especially on weekends. Good luck finding a spot then! Also, may take long before you get your food (you pay up front), especially if they are short-staffed. But I think the food is well worth the wait. We stopped here for some strawberry gelato after dinner, but it wasn’t quite to our liking. We found it to be overly sweet and not as high in quality or flavor as other gelaterias we visited in Portugal. That being said, many other customers seemed to be ordering crepe-based desserts with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, or Nutella, so it’s possible that those are the specialty rather than the gelato.
