Marisqueira Faro e Benfica — Restaurant in Faro

I booked this restaurant as previously I had an excellent experience. This time I booked for a company dinner. The restaurant is very pricy, but the starters were very good, so it was worth paying for. The service lacked attention to detail, we had to confirm several times the drinks order, waiters were not familiar with items on the menu. The worst experience of the evening was they forgot one of the main courses, so 8 of our party received their meal and one person was forgotten, the forgotten meal was Arroz de Ligueirao ! (which everyone knows cannot be made in 5-10 minutes) the waiter apologized and so we waited. less than 10 minutes the rice pot appeared, which can only de described as rice floating in butter with a few razor clams and nothing else, no seasoning of coriander, nothing ! it was obviously cooked so fast they forgot to add any seasoning, the waiter seemed embarrassed to be serving this dish and kept apologizing, he soon realized by looking at the amount of rice on my plate that I was not going to attempt to eat it, he asked if he coudl bring me something else and as not to make a fuss for the rest of my party I refused, he confirmed he would not be charging me, which I took in good faith. We paid the bill and upon confirming with my colleague the following day I was very upset to set the charge for the Arroz de Ligueirao on the top of the bill. I called to complaint but unfortunately the waiter seemed so busy and distracted that I explained I would call back. The whole experience was very unprofessional and the Chief with any dignity should have advised they could not make such a dish within minutes. I would also suggest to fellow diners to get the menu in Portuguese and translate yourself as the English on the menu is a very poor translations and dishes are not as described. Example- Cod fish with Bread crumbs, cannot be Bacalhau com Meigas, nor is Fish and seafood pasta,...

A meal that will be remember. The location and the view are unique, you are overlooking the marina and the city. But the best is the meal. And what a meal it was. We asked for the squid for entrée, delicius. And for main course the tipical Mongfish Cataplana and the Seafood Rice. Both dishes were just amazing, the taste, the variety, the quality and quantity were all 5 stars, not complain what so ever. The seafood rice, I have tried many all over Portugal, and this is become easily the numer one I have tried so far. The Cataplana, also excelente, you see when you have a good cataplana when the fish is abundant and big cuts, so they use fressh and quality fish, this is always the first indicator for a excelente cataplana, and this was defetly the case. Very fresh and nice seafood, (mixed platter and arroz de marisco) perfectly cooked. There was a waiter bold with glasses (or manager?) very pushy and stressed us out! To be honest it felt like he doesn't like the job! He must leave!! He gave us bread, butter and a selection of tapas but we never asked for it, we even thought it was complimentary by the way he was presenting it. I wanted to order wine, and wanted to know the price of the different wines by the glass, as it wasn't written on the menu, but he never informed me and made me try a house wine. That was the only negative point! Otherwise it was the freshest and tastiest seafood I've had.
