We booked to stay for 4 nights via booking.com but upon arrival we felt unsafe within the premises. We talked to the owner but our concernes were dismissed as problematic. We requested to cancel our reservation and ended up staying elsewhere and loosing our money. ||What made us feel unsafe is that the main door to the hostel is open and the reception unattended. Anyone could enter the premises, use the facilities and access the common spaces. |There was someone with no booking staying in the reception area for a few hours. There was also a person sleeping on the second floor, at the only sofa amd entry path to the shared bathrooms. ||Upon arrival, we also asked if we could secure our bags whilst waiting for the actual room to be cleaned and we were told to leave them on the floor. And he reassured us they would be safe there. We then went out of the hostel to review the situation with my friend in private, and after 20min when we returned, the owner had left the hostel premises, with the main door unlocked and our bags left on the entrance floor. He told us that this is a safe area, and pointed out that this is Faro and not Morocco. ||We asked the owner to find out who makes sure the main door is closed at night and he told us it is the responsibility of the guests. ||The private room looked spacious but it was the first door on the landing so it felt very exposed knowing there was open access to the hostel. ||We would not recommend this place especially to...
Read moreI cannot stress enough how horrendous my experience was at this hostel. It was nothing short of a nightmare. Firstly, the staff were about as welcoming as a punch in the face. Their attitude screamed "We don't care about you or your stay." It was as if I was an inconvenience rather than a paying guest.
Secondly, cleanliness was a foreign concept to them. The bathrooms were like something out of a horror movie. I wouldn't let my worst enemy shower there, let alone myself. The sheets on the bed looked like they hadn't been washed since the Stone Age. I swear I saw a family of dust bunnies living under my mattress.
And don't even get me started on the professionalism, or should I say lack thereof. They couldn't organize a game of bingo, let alone run a hostel. It felt like a circus run by clowns who were constantly tripping over their oversized shoes.
To top it all off, they were about as reliable as a chocolate teapot. I had to wait for ages just to check in, and even then, they managed to mess up my reservation. It was like they were trying to set a world record for incompetence.
In conclusion, save yourself the misery and avoid this hostel like the plague. It's a cesspool of unprofessionalism, filth, and hostility. If you have any respect for your sanity, find somewhere...
Read moreI recently spent 3 nights at this hostel. The location is very good as it is central. The noise can not be avoided due to the location. However, the place is dirty, there is dust everywhere, the furniture is old, shabby and not necessarily comfortable. I was in room 1 near the entrance. The main door at the street level was left oper or at least unlocked day and night. The door of the hostel was always open even when no staff was in the reception area. Who on earth chose the furniture for this place? Why so many useless plastic plants covered with dust everywhere? Why ugly paintings and posters of New York or Paris? Is it that difficult to organise the space so that visitors have the items they need for a comfortable and safe stay, like hangers for clothes, a desk, working lamps by the bed, information in relation to public transport? The toilets were filthy. The showers were not properly cleaned for the whole length of my stay. I have been in Faro many times and this place is by far the worst. It is not even cheap, if you want your own room. I don't know how so many guests can rate this place as good, I have found it very very dirty and not...
