Umm, where to start. We were quite looking forward to trying this place and now we have we regret it. We were seated upstairs and served by a younger and an older waiter. The young guy was fine but the older guy looked and acted like he couldn't care less about us being there, barely a smile, seemed like he had an attitude problem. We started our meal with a shared starter of the 'fresh cheese' and bolo do caco. It was 8 small pieces of mozzarella (I think) on a bed of lettuce, not very inspiring. The bolo tasted good but was both chewy and crispy at the same time? For mains we had grilled turkey with pineapple and baked potato. Turkey was very dry and the potato's were black, not good! The fillet steak with mushroom sauce I had I asked for medium, but it came medium rare, more bordering on rare. I would have sent it back had they not covered it in the sauce, which should have been served in a seperate dish (let me decide if I want it covering my steak!). The fries were good though. My companion didn't mention how bad their meal was until we left, had I known I would have said something, as it stands we will vote with our feet and never return. Highly...
Read moreOh my goodness what a magnificent place. The service was exemplary and all the staff spoke excellent and perfect English. The views were magical and when it got chilly, we were offered blankets. Our waiter recommended the goat stew and I can honestly say it was the best goat stew I have eaten anywhere in the world. The goat melted in your mouth and the flavour was sublime. We also had the fish soup to start and it was flavoursome and light. We also had scabbard with banana and passion fruit, it was cooked perfectly and again, the flavour was awesome. The portions are large and we possibly could have shared our food instead of eating a soup each and a main course each. I will definitely be going back to this awesome restaurant. We went back and had octopus which could have done with a little less cooking but the flavour was amazing. The staff are the best I have encountered anywhere in the world. Try the mint tea - it is the real deal and an awesome way to finish a meal. Listen to the recommendation of the staff, they know their food and...
Read moreJust had our first meal at Hole in The Wall. A lift to the restaurant level with a terrace level above, good access for less than fit people. Warm welcome and choice of tables. Had the Calves Liver as a shared starter, very good and good portion but sliced a little too thinly for us, delicious taste. Entrees were Lamb Chops and Iberian Black Pork. The lamb chops were very tasty but again very thinly sliced. The accompanying sauce was delicious but it didn’t need the slice of pineapple. The pork was very tasty but again very thinly sliced, see a theme here? But both very good portions. Accompanying sauté potatoes were good and the steamed vegetables were as always in restaurants not fully cooked but quite edible. Overall, nice tasty meal. Excellent friendly service especially from Carlos. Would go back again and try the steak. Damage €71 including a...
