I generally don’t offer many reviews unless I really want to support outstanding establishments & service I personally received. This place was NOT THAT! We made reservations for 2 for my birthday dinner, and we were intrigued by the reviews for Irreverente, and were excited to go. When we arrived to an empty restaurant at 7 pm, far earlier than the normal popular dining hrs for locals. I was shown 2 seats at the tiny bar, or given an option to sit outside. Current conditions outside were WINDY- not breezy, like blow your dress over your head windy, with no ambiance whatsoever - metal chairs in an unremarkable big empty space off the road. When I asked for an actual table inside-I was curtly refused…no apology, no reason given-and again…every table was empty. The Uber ride to this disappointment was not free…nor was the windy wait outside to leave. How this place gets 5 stars is beyond me….not in a nice area, no good vibe, or seating, and rude staff….luckily I found a wonderful little spot in old town, with a great staff, great food, and a fun sparkler birthday song from the whole restaurant! Not a fancy place but was 100% better experience. Don’t waste your time trying this place. FYI-both my husband & I were in the restaurant business for many years in the past- we are understanding of how things work, and we are appreciative guests, and great tippers so their loss:( update I guess the management of this restaurant cares about bad reviews more than an actual good dining experience for their customers. I received a random phone call & text (which I did not want or ask for). I was told the table offered to us was the “Chef’s Table”- yeah right. At the end of a tiny bar, with a couple of paper napkins & a fork & knife!?! Maybe where the chef takes his break from cooking in reality. I was offered an other opportunity to visit with an offer of a free app & wine I think. No thanks, I can afford my own meals & wine, and recognize a phony apology & bribe….I stand by my initial review…undeserving pretentious attitudes and poor customer service is a choice. Responding after the fact...

Each dish was carefully curated, it is clear that the owners prioritize quality of their ingredients and creative twists on each plate.
The server was keen to recommend new dishes and he did not lead us astray, each course more impressive than the next. I particular we enjoyed their take on beef tartare and miso aubergine. The wine selection was immense, with options to satisfy every palate.
Chatting with the owners after our meal, it was clear that guest experience was a priority as well, with both having worked for years in the hospitality industry in various countries. This is the first place I would recommend to those visiting Lagos, especially if you are looking for something special and different from the cafes and seafood restaurants you’ll find in the center...
