Luca’s Rooftop Restaurant — Restaurant in Lagos

Neither the service nor the food were good. The first thing was the service. Our first waiter (which I see is in some pictures in these Google reviews) was HORRIFIC. We didn't even ask him his name. He was rude and condescending. I tried to speak in Portuguese and he laughed (I guess he didn't understand) and so we switched to English. Not much better service. Barely looked at us and him and a girl with a ponytail were extremely condescending and every time we tried to get their attention it was super uncomfortable. To the point that another waiter switched to attend us without us asking for it, I guess the original waiter disliked us as much as we disliked him. The second waiter was AMAZING and gave us port wine at the end of our meal, I guess to try to salvage what had already been a bad experience. My tuna was overcooked, not tasty (so the waiter didn't understand "rare" in Portuguese, English, OR Spanish. What a shame). Another one of us had the Carvi Meat, which wasn't good either. The only decent plate was the Pork tomahawk. For the pricing GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Not worth it. Before we get an equally condescending response (as I see this restaurant likes to do to others): if you mention why didn't we complain while there, or why were the plates empty... Do better. From Australia first night in Lagos and was recommended this restaurant. This was an expensive restaurant and we ordered a Chateaubriand for 2 and waited an hour for this meal (without prior notice from waiter) for this to be served warmish - whilst this was tender our meal would have been more enjoyable hot. We looked for a waiter to provide immediate feedback but they were not around. When he did come back 15 minutes later, we provided polite feedback and he blamed us for not telling him - but he along with other staff were not around. He said he would pass onto chef but chef said we should have notified staff which we were trying to do. The South African waiter who I forget his name did not take any feedback nor cared. A lovely waitress asked if we wanted to dessert and we ordered cheesecake - this was tasteless and berries were frozen - not her fault at all. I never complain about food or service and this for me is hard to provide. When you are paying top price you expect good food and respectful service. Even when we went to pay up the front I was polite and provided honest feedback and th host said he would let chef know - It was not the chef it was the waiters fault. Hope this...

One of the best dining experiences we had on our 10-days-vacation in Lagos. We loved everything about Luca‘s Rooftop: the interior, the view over Praia Dona Ana, their drinks, their food and especially their service. The friendly service-woman that recommended Chef‘s Special Tuna (maybe you remember me: you told me, that you go for this dish as a starter on your day off; as a main course you prefer monkfish) and Berry Cheesecake (both dishes were top-notch) to me has to be highlighted. She made us feel more than welcome and was super authentic. There is another person working in this restaurant I definetly have to highlight: I do not know his exact position/job inside the team but he was managing the tables at the entrance when we enterer the restaurant. He was so grateful for having us and made us feel like we are close friends with him (even shaking our hands and hugging us before leaving the restaurant).
