My partner and I stayed at Hotel Dom Manuel for 6 nights and loved every single second of our stay here!
The room was incredibly clean and the cleaners are extremely friendly and thorough when cleaning your room (this can be requested each day if required!). We also watched them cleaning around the pool area and the extent to which they go to to clean the area was fab.
The pool area is super quiet which is great for anyone wanting to relax, there were always beds free when we wanted them and umbrellas positioned in great locations for when you get a little too hot. Or a dip in the pool does the job too (the pool doesn’t get much sun so it is super cold but still lovely).
The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful.
The breakfast is vast and some things change each day to keep it interesting (the cakes, fruit and pastry selections) but they always have the standards each day too (eggs, sausages, bacon, a variety of bread, cereal, salad, juices etc.).
The rooms have a hairdryer in the bathroom, a fridge and clothes horse on the balcony as standard (which is a fab touch!), we were also greeted on arrival with a free bottle of red wine and water. Irons are available on request.
The location is also brilliant: a 10-minute walk into the centre of Lagos, and a shop close by for any additional room requirements.
We genuinely don’t have a bad word to say about this hotel and would love to return in...
Read moreWe had an excellent 4-night stay at Dom Manuel traveling as a couple in September 2023. We found the location to be perfect -- quiet because it is not in the middle of the downtown night life, yet a very short walk to the town center. It is also located on the side of town closer to Ponta da Piedade (and the associated boardwalk), great for trying to catch sunrise and exploring some of the best beaches. The concierge was excellent at suggesting tours we really enjoyed (ex. a sunset tour of Sagres), and we also appreciated that they provided beach/pool towels. We usually skip breakfast at hotels in favor of finding a local spot, but the breakfast at Dom Manuel is not to be missed! We had a superb time tasting all they had to offer, which varied every day. We stayed in one of the junior suites in the attic and had a lovely, more private balcony and great AC. The only thing we would note (which the hotel is definitely upfront about!) is that there is no elevator. Our room was up two flights of stairs AND an additional spiral staircase -- so please keep that in mind before booking if stairs are an issue for you. We would absolutely LOVE to be repeat customers at Dom Manuel.
We also strongly recommend Praia da Marinha and the Seven Hanging Valleys hiking trail -- a real highlight for us! We didn't have a car, but did this...
Read moreThis is a 3-star hotel in a peaceful area of Lagos. It’s about a 10-minute walk to Old Town, and also within walking distance to both the beach and several restaurants and supermarkets.
While the hotel itself is 3 stars, the service and breakfast felt more like 5 stars. I’ve never been served cake at breakfast before – but here I was! I also really liked the fresh fruit and the separate table with vegetarian options.
The hotel provides beach/pool towels that you can take to your room and swap for fresh ones whenever needed, which was very convenient. Since we had an early departure at 6 AM, we were asked to return the towels the day before. The lovely receptionist even offered us a breakfast bag we could pick up the evening before – such a thoughtful gesture!
Our room was fresh, clean, and had a large balcony. The only small downside was a few cracks in the shower from wear and tear, but nothing serious. You could occasionally hear other guests in the hallway, so if you’re very sensitive to noise it’s worth noting, but for us it wasn’t a problem.
The pool area was also very cute and cozy, perfect for relaxing after a day in town or at the beach.
Overall, I would happily recommend this hotel to friends and family. You get exactly what you book – it’s not luxury, but for a 3-star hotel it really overdelivers, and we had a...
