A big smile greeted us on the street adjacent to the path to Praia do Pinhao ( Beach). I believe this friendly young man may be our server's brother. After a gorgeous day enjoying local beaches, we found this gem and will certainly be returning. Our server, Surya ,treated us like royalty. He and ( his brother?) were quick to find a location for our bikes, fill my water bottle with refreshing cold water and be patient while we got seated. They took care of so many details : folding our napkins, rearranging the table and offering assistance in such a non intrusive manner.
The food was scrumptious. We shared a prawn pakora and each enjoyed the fish burger , salad , fries and coke .
While we were seated a beautiful couple hesitated at the entrance. We told them how good the food was and to encourage them to go in. The man pointed to himself and said with such pride “ Katmandu , Nepal” and at that moment Surya came out and announced this couple were his parents.
Warmth, kindness and respect radiate from this family. Mother and father’s names are Chandra and Tul.
They were kind enough to permit a photo that sadly I cannot seem to include. This visit to their restaurant will be a highlight of my first trip to Europe.
A strong regard for this family is not enough. You need to see, feel and taste this wholesome...
Read moreWhen I saw the reviews I got excited to try this place, 4.6 is an amazing rate but that was not at all our experience:
The staff was extremely nice, both of them gave us the best treatment possible, but that was the only good thing about that, after everything went downhill
They had a very strong incense burning in the restaurant, we thought that was weird not letting the restaurant smell like food. It took forever for the food to arrive, and the restaurant was basically empty
But let's go to the important part, the food. One of the plates had shrimp, and the shrimps were still so cold that it looked like someone had just been removed from the freezer and thrown on the plate. The food had a bad taste, and it didn't look good
We don't know if this was a very unlucky day and the restaurant is really good (that's a shame), but the experience was so bad that was by far the worst thing that happened with us in our 15 days trip to Portugal
Again, I hope this was an isolated incident and the restaurant really deserves...
Read moreWatch out for currency conversion fees! The food is okay and quite cheap. But they seem to “scam” you into paying 5% currency conversion fee when paying with international credit cards. We happened to hear an argument between a customer and them earlier about currency charges and that their waitress selected to convert currencies on the device without asking, but thought it might have been an accident. There was a big argument going on between multiple waiters and the customer. However, the same happened to us afterwards too - even though we said we want to pay in EUR and without asking the waiter just secretly tapped on the card terminal and on the receipt we noticed we were charged in USD instead of EUR + 5% extra charge. Very bad deal considering nowadays most cards have free currency conversions included. And since there was just a big argument about it in the restaurant before, they just seem to be ignorant about it and do...
