Cantinho do Petisco is a fantastic local gem in Lagos, especially if you’re looking for excellent fresh fish at very fair prices. The menu focuses on simple, well-prepared Portuguese dishes that let the quality of the ingredients shine, especially the grilled fish, which is consistently fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with a mix of locals and travelers, and the service is friendly and efficient without being rushed. Portions are generous, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality you get, making it one of the better-value spots in town. It’s a great choice if you want an authentic, no-fuss meal that focuses on fresh seafood and traditional flavors. Arrive early or make a reservation if you can, it’s popular for good reason and fills up quickly during peak hours.

Hidden gem in Lagos? Just had a lovely lunch here, as some other reviewers have said this cafe/bar feels undervalued by the other reviews because the food is really good. Me and my partner shared some mussels to start with followed by sea bass for me (see photo) and a quality burger for my wife. We had a none alcoholic drink each and the bill was less than 37 euro which is amazing especially given both meals were top quality and good size portions. The lesson is surly don't judge a book by it's cover!

Good food and cheap wine. We had the musselns and the baby squids. While the dishes as a whole were quite good, the seafood itself was not the best - not bad either! Just have had better quality ingredients here in Lagos. It's only a 6 minute walk from Dona Ana Beach and probably better than the beach bar. While the waiter didn't speak English very well, he tried his best to make us feel welcome. You should give it a try.

Awful service. Went here with three friends looking for a place outside of the super tourist area of lagos. Worst service I have ever experienced. All got simple grilled fish meals and it took over 40 mins for our food to come (was not at all busy) and when it came the fish were all over done and in general the quality of the sides was very poor. The staff were just sitting around smoking and drinking beer this whole time. Other people who ordered after us had their food come much before ours. I don't understand why this happened and I would like to add that we were not at all being disrespectful and the poor service...
