Have wanted to try this beautiful little restaurant for a few weeks now since I walked by one day and fell in love with the location and general appearance of the place. I especially wanted to take my wife there knowing she’d love it. So yesterday we walked over there from our home for breakfast sitting down at the ideal spot and soaked in the serenity of this lovely place at the very end of the Lagos Marina. I was certain that the breakfast would be tops, it just has that feel about it. I ordered the Yacht breakfast, a spin on Locks and Bagels while my wife ordered French Toast. I also ordered an American Coffee which I must say was quite good for the Algarve. My dish was not bad although the portion of Locks and Cream Cheese for the money would have been good if doubled. The Bagel was perhaps one of the very best that Ive had in the Algarve. And then my wife’s French toast arrived. You could just see her cheeks droop in disappointment as she looked at it. We’ve gotten accustomed to French toast that comes loaded with fruit and other garnishments but this was just intended to be as the name implies, French “toast”, zero trimmings. Well, that would be fine, BUT, to differentiate plain old toast from “French Toast” one has to actually “”soak” the slices of bread in egg batter, not simply quick dip then hit the grill with it which is what she got, no cinnamon or powdered sugar even. As a result we had to pay $€9.5 for two slices of toast. My wife wound up also ordering eggs to go with the toast. Morale of this write up. Why in the world would someone go through all the effort to create such a lovely little restaurant in a great location and with lovely ambiance only to ruin the experience by going cheap and or hasty. That just doesn’t add up if you ask me. My wife’s view of this place as is mine is that we had to pay 9.5 for two slices of toast and we’ll probably add this one to the walk on by list. Quality, good service and ambience are a recipe for return business especially when Tourism season ends and you long for business. I’m not discouraging folks from going there but from our experience skip anything called “French Toast”. Hope this restaurant does something to improve quality as I’d love to try it again sometime...
Read moreFrom Great to bad in 3 month ? What happened? Change of kitchen ? Change of owner or what ? In ester when we went to this place all was good, now service is slow (20 min to get a beer, yes full restaurant), food is poor quality for the price level. It’s nice location (that’s why I still keep 2 stars), but go there for drinks, food is better options...
Read moreWorst restaurant I’ve been to, possibly ever. Service was ok, but the food and timelines was atrocious. Two appetizers took over an hour to prepare. One was a caprese salad. The house bread is a piece of toasted sliced bread from the supermarket. The shrimp cocktail is one shrimp. AWFUL quality.
Do yourself a favour...
