Café Bandeira — Restaurant in Lisbon

I stood at the counter several minutes being pointedly ignored by staff. Eventually gave up and left. Food looked bad too, and it smelled funny. Very run down.

two small updates:

the owner claims the place was busy. this is a lie. there were zero other customers trying to order. there were two people behind the counter, ignoring me, and that's all.

the owner bizarrely claims i'm a "low level customer". it's unclear where that nonsense came from, or how it could possibly be relevant. but, for the record... i'm a "c-level executive", and am more frequently found at the ritz-carlton vs. the slum where this shop is located. again, i don't understand why the owner thinks the "level" of the customer would excuse their behavior, but... if i could give them a negative star count, that one comment would be more than enough...

Excellent service, friendly staff, and delicious pastries! As an English speaking tourist, I definitely felt welcome on my three trips to the cafe while staying in Lisbon. I find it hard to believe foreigners are ripped off as the staff was quite accomodating to me. Coffee is superb and very affortable! Highly recommend arriving early to ensure you have the full selection of pastries.

Highly recommend and would definitely go back if...

À FUIR ABSOLUMENT !!! Une expérience honteuse et à la limite de l’escroquerie !

Nous avons commandé des lasagnes et des cannellonis, pensant manger un plat préparé sur place. Quelle ne fut pas notre surprise (et indignation) de voir le patron sortir les plats directement du congélateur… pour ensuite les passer au micro-ondes sans le moindre scrupule ! Une véritable honte ! Jamais nous n’avions vu cela, que ce soit dans un restaurant ou même dans un simple bar censé “faire à manger”, et ce, dans aucun autre pays.

Pire encore : rien n’indique que les plats sont surgelés, ce qui est totalement malhonnête. Et pour couronner le tout, ces plats industriels sont facturés 9€ chacun ! Une arnaque pure et simple. La photo parle d’elle-même : il suffit de la regarder pour comprendre le “plaisir” que l’on a à manger dans cet endroit…

Et ce n’est pas fini ! Le patron n’hésite pas à arnaquer les touristes. Il prend dans sa vitrine quelques snacks, les passe au micro-ondes devant vous, les dépose sur la table sans rien dire, vous laissant croire que c’est un geste de la maison… Pour ensuite les facturer 6€ sur la note finale ! Une méthode plus que douteuse.

Bref, si vous voulez bien manger, passez votre chemin. Cet endroit est tout...
