Confeitaria Cistér — Restaurant in Lisbon

Just because the restaurant has existed since the 1800s doesn't mean I expected an 1800s level experience.

The waitress, who did not speak English, handed us menus, only to reveal ten minutes later that 60% of the dishes listed are not being served. We ordered fish pasta which, while very tasty, was just above lukewarm, and fully lukewarm for one of my friends. It took another ten minutes for him to receive an actually warm dish.

There is also no splitting of bills.

Pastries for desert were okay. A bit too sugary. There were also cute Halloween ghosts

We have been twice since our stay here. We stumbled upon it as it's close to our hotel. Very helpful waiters who spoke English. A typical local Portuguese tea/coffee, restaurant. That is what we wanted to experience not a Starbucks. We've had tea and coffee there. We as also went back the following day for dinner. Delicious grilled sea bass with boiled potatoes cooked well. Whether you want to wine or dine, it doesn't get better than Cister. Home to a plethora of local dishes to satisfy any and all apetites, Cister has any drink you can think of to go with it. Personally, I only wish I could go there more since the food is always fresh, the price fair and the staff just terrific. Saddened only by the fact that I can't give more than 5 stars.
