Floresta do Salitre — Restaurant in Lisbon

Floresta do Salitre is a small family run authentic restaurant. Interior is uncluttered but nice and looked after. Atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. Menu offers a variety of portuguese foods. We had prawns, sausage and scrambled eggs, selection of portuguese croquettes, bread and olives for starters. Dishes were served plain and tasted very nice. For mains we had dorade, salmon, chicken breast and pork loins. French fries, tomato rice and sauteed vegetables were served as sides. The fish was palatable, well spiced and good in texture. Chicken breast was savory, well marinated and succulent. Pork loins were superb and tender. Sides were plain and delicious. As dessert we had coconut cake, which tasted awesome. Cuisine of this little restaurant reminded me of the basics of italian cooking: few and high quality ingredients, keep it simple but good. Portuguese cuisine is quite similar in philosophy. The Floresta do Salitre is following these principles skillfully without distraction. Staff is extremely dedicated and very friendly. Best food I've had in Lisbon with excellent service at a very fair price ($8-11, drinks $1.50-2.50).

Lunch menu did not have English so the waiter was nice enough to immediately bring sample dishes out to show us which item was what. I was also clumsy enough to spill my wine and he was kind enough to offer a refill for free, which I felt very guilty about!

I had the pork ribs and they were so juicy and tender; the potatoes and vegetables were also delicious.

Não posso indicar a qualidade ou falta dela em relação à comida, pois o empregado já de alguma idade, provavelmente o proprietário, foi ordinário o que me levou a abandonar de imediato o local... Com tanta oferta, é de dispensar ser atendido por pessoas sem capacidade de prestar um serviço com educação, elevação cívica e moral. Resposta ao proprietário: Não sei quem responde por esta entidade, se for o "tal" Senhor de alguma idade, este saberá o que fez... deverá ser "Modus Operandi"... se assim não fosse e em relação ao meu caso particular não existia razão para o fazer... nunca tinha estado nesse "Restaurante"… não havia animosidade… era e sou um perfeito desconhecido…

No que concerne à data, verdade seja dita, o acontecimento tem já algum tempo (meses)... esqueci-me de fazer esta “critica”, mas recentemente passei pela morada e lembrei-me do sucedido…

Agora e levantar dúvidas da veracidade por o estabelecimento estar de momento encerrado… esse argumento não colhe o que pretende evocar…

Não chamei de imediato as autoridades, porque tal nunca me tinha acontecido o que me deixou perplexo e sem “reacção”, também porque tinha o “tempo contado”…

Por último e não por mim, pois nunca mais irei ao "seu" Restaurante, mas que esta critica sirva para nunca mais tratarem um cliente desta forma... não foi e nunca será correcto este tipo de procedimento, a falta de formação cívica nunca...
