Pretty unique boutique hotel. Staff was very helpful, informative, and kind. They made sure we had everything we needed and all the information to travel around the city. It is steps from a Metro station and many busses.

Rooms are on the small side, but it's an old building in Europe, so that is to be expected. They are very modern and stylish inside, and stocked well with everything you need and the soaps are top notch. Rooms were quiet. View... not much. Some very clever and unique pieces of decoration in the rooms, like old/classic liquor bottles used in cocktails of the time period.

It all looks like an old hotel from a 1920s movie! Ambience is great. A lot of attention to detail in the decor.

The restaurant was not open the night we stayed so we couldn't try the dinner & cabaret show. The bar was open and you can order drinks to have in the spacious outside garden patio. Which is a good thing because unfortunately the bar/restaurant area smells often like sewage. The signature cocktails are incredibly sweet, and I could not finish either. Other people may like that sort of syrupy drink on holiday though. The presentation was lacking as well. Drinks were too small for the glasses, or there wasn't enough ice. For the price, it should be better.

In-room TV wasn't great, poor quality picture (low resolution), and often froze/stuttered, but wi-fi was fast and strong. No Netflix option on the TV.

Breakfast was very typical hotel breakfast buffet. And it is complimentary which is a bonus. Lots of variety to choose from and it is open until 11am so if you're a late riser, it's perfect.

So decor, location, and hospitality are A+, breakfast is a solid B, and bar and TV is C. Overall, it's a unique hotel to visit and...

Overall we did not get the room we booked. We paid over $350 and was give an $85 room.

My husband and I booked through Expedia and specifically chose the bondage room. We arrived at 10:00 a.m. and left our bags at the hotel while we explored the city. When we got back and proceeded to check in after 3:00 p.m., they gave us room keys. When entering our room we noticed it was completely different from the pictures and went downstairs to settle everything. The employees were very nice however we were getting the runaround. We were placed in a standard room which was a big difference in both price and comfort. The standard room bed was very uncomfortable, the room is small and toilets are even lower quality compared to the specialty rooms. The front desk told us it was Expedia's fault and we just had to wait. After I reached out to Expedia myself, they tried calling the hotel multiple times who didn't answer so then emailed asking for a partial or full refund since we recieved the wrong room. Around 9pm the front desk told us we could either use the difference at the resturant and bar (we were flying our the next morning so not an option) or sleep in the dressing room since the hotel will not be issuing a refund even though they should have just refunded the difference in price.

The dressing room was very nice, much more spacious and comfortable. I imagine by looking at the price it was comparable to the bondage room and we were very happy we could change rooms. We enjoyed the burlesque decor.

Breakfast is at 8pm which I think should start earlier so we could have participated.

They have dinner and a show which is a really neat option if you are wanting to eat...

Do not recommend - Many hotels nowadays have automated temperature controls to keep guests from setting their AC too low and Maxime is one of them. The problem is, the display shows (and front desk affirms) 18 degrees Celsius. This is absolutely not the case.

The 1st room I was given had the AC split on the wrong wall with no space for air to circulate. Additionally the thermostat didn’t seem to be working. The gentleman from the bar came into the room to help, that is how it was confirmed.

I was offered a different room. It seem a bit better, split was on the ideal all allowing for air flow, the problem however is that the temperature was basically the same as the previous room, around 24 to 25 Celsius, despite the lowest temperature of 18 Celsius showing on the display.

Lobby staff, although polite had no ability to help. No technician on site and if I wanted to change my reservation (to leave early and go to a different hotel) I would have to speak to the reservation department during business hours. It is absurd that front desk is not equipped with the power to resolve matters like most hotels.

So far an entire night without the needed rest after an overnight flight from the US. This without mentioning the terrible internet speed. I am paying a “market value” for this type of hotel, the least I can expect is the basics, I have almost none. Despite my 1st experience here a year ago being reasonable, I vividly remembered the room not having such temperature control. I would not stay here again and would...

The hotel hosts cabaret. The interior is decorated with a burlesque theme to match. It attracts quite a varied clientele. They have two small lifts, which are in the old style. Sometimes we just used the stairs instead of waiting. In the room there is a Nespresso machine and the 2 pods are replaced daily. There's also a small safe under the window. Our shower ended up spraying all over the place the first night, so we had to adjust it. There is no closet though. There are just hangers on a rail near the bed. No bidet, but that's pretty normal. Don't think they had slippers either. There is a good spread for breakfast, which is included with your room. It doesn't change daily but there's so much to try you can spread it out over a few days. You can of course get a pastel de nata as well as other pastries, cereals, toast and cooked breakfast items. Big Nespresso coffee machines down here. A selection of juices available too. Where you have breakfast is where they put on the shows. When it's not a performing arts venue it's just a nice place to chill outside of breakfast service times. The location is outstanding. There's a metro station about a 5-10minute walk away. The position of the hotel means most of the sights in the city are a walkable distance away too. There is a small square near the hotel. Occasion: This is where we stayed for a week's perfect romantic anniversary getaway. It's a perfect spot for couples in the heart of Lisbon. The hotel: Esthetics are superb from the get go. The hotel has an unassuming impression by day, but by sunset it give a subtle vibe of a place you want to be at. A unique sexy atmosphere with a sharp appearance and efficient professional service. Amenities: The breakfast variety is very good and will likely answer all your palate's needs. The rooms are trés schiqe and the infotainment system on the TV sets the tone for a sexy stay in the perfect manner. I used the laundry service which came back quickly and as expected. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful a wonderful team. Accessibility: The location is perfect as being in the center of town and allowed for all our local Uber rides anywhere in town to be no more than 4 euros. Access to the main square is a 6-7 min relaxed walk through an avenue of high class stores. The square is a meeting point for most of the guided tours in Lisbon and surrounding sites (Sintra, Pena castle, Porto, Nazare, etc.). Overall for an unprepared surprise tour of Lisbon this was our perfect home base for the duration of our stay. We highly recommend the Maxime hotel and wish all the best to its staff and crew.
