Usually I seldom leave comments after I finish the dinner, not to mention bad reviews. But the restaurant upset me a lot this time. Everything went well at first. The food was good and I was enjoying the time with my friends. Then we found it was too cold for us for the reason that the air conditioner was too strong. It was a rainy autumn evening, and the temperature was about 20℃ inside. There was no need using the air conditioning and it was not environmental-friendly. Then we kindly asked the waitress if they could turn up the air conditioning a little bit. we were surprised that the waitress reacted to us in a cold way. I would say her attitude was even colder than the air conditioner. She just said with a cold face, "No, the other guests will feel hot."
I thought it was the worst thing that night and I didn't expected there would be something even worse. My friend made the reservation by Folk and he was told there would be a discount. When we first got in the restaurant, we checked with the waiter about the information and he confirmed it. When we ordered the meal, we checked again with the waitress and she said "yes" again. But when we were near finishing, the waitress came to our table and told us we made the reservation in a wrong way and we couldn't get the discount. Actually it was reasonable because the app fails sometimes. But the waitress's attitude ruined everything. She didn't show any regret or respect and treated us like a headmaster, with her cold face again, as if we had made huge mistakes.
I have spent a joyful time in Portugal for several months and I have never been treated like this. The Portuguese people are very friendly and warmhearted. This restaurant was the worst one I had been in. The food was good but the service was poor. I have to doubt that she thought we are Asian tourists who would not spend a lot time arguing or she just doesn't like Asian people. If so, I would really upset. I would never go to this...
Read moreI reviewed this restaurant shortly after it was opened towards the end of last year,2018. I was very enthusiastic with its food. But now time has come to downgrade them to three maybe even to two stars after some months as they lost the quality and the care they were identified with. I went several times after my first visit and started to notice the decline especially in the food they serve. But I thought l should give a chance or a second even a third chance until l revisited my original review. However, when I went on Monday, April 8th, the food they served was no longer to be edible. The crab they served as entree was a strange mix. Their signature dish baccala came in a liquid milk paste-purely an unidentified object— and rice with almost no baccala in it. Maybe it was a Monday and the cook was off. Service was bad. Waitresses used to speak English , not much anymore. Very hard time to communicate with them. I hope they recover fast and return to their glory days when they started the business. My original review when they got five stars from me follows below: Located in Lisbon’s one of the most upscale addresses, right across the Museo Arte Antiga and facing a picturesque piazza, this brasserie alike restaurant is a fairly new addition to the restaurant rich Lapa neighborhood. Their motto is “ all the food that speaks Portuguese”, referring to dishes coming from Brazil, Goa, Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde. Equipped with an English speaking friendly staff, it offers a joyful atmosphere along with tasty food enriched with spices and exotic flavors. Spider crab meat is a good way to start and then to be followed by Angolan dish muamba which is certainly worth a try. One of my other favorites is cassava and coconut milk puree with cod fish. But l could not resist stealing fork fulls of grilled octopus from my friend’s plate either.Only was not happy with their Timorese salad which really did not...
Read moreGEOGRAPHIA is a GEM within LISBON. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE CONCEPT. i stumbled upon this place while checking my reels over instagram and when i saw the concept i told myself i had to try it. so i booked a reservation and went alone. i absolutely loved the old decor inside of the restaurant, the maps are amazing (especially if you're a history fan like i am). the concept of this restaurant was to unite all of the portuguese speaking nations over food which i find to be brilliant. in this place you'll find food from the different portuguese speaking nations, such as: brazil, portugal, mozambique, angola etc... Now i don't know if the way it's made is authentic as I haven't been to all of these places nor have i had food from these places, but personally i really liked everything i've tried (the least one I've liked i would say would be the dim sum as i guess i've had better, even tho no disrespect it was good). One of the manager also came to my table to ask me if everything was okay, which is rare in europe, i really appreciated it. Now, the pricing is a bit above portuguese prices however i still believe it is totally worth it as this place is definitely a culinary experience that you cannot have everywhere. I will definitely come back to this place the next time i come...
