Pff how do I start? tl;dr: tourist trap. At first glance, the lady/owner will seem sweet and invite you in. After you sit down and start looking at the snacks on the menu, she will put down some bread, some sausages, some cheese, which you did not order. After my girlfriend ordered some water, they brought two bottles instead of one. After I ordered a Copa(glass) of wine, they pour it for me and leave the bottle, afterwards. We did not touch the unordered food/bottles, because we had a feeling it might be a trap. Anything that you touch on that table, you have to pay for, even if you didn't order it. This, in and of itself is deceiving and unethical behavior. Afterwards, me and my girlfriend ordered a steak and octopus. The steak came overcooked with salt and some boiled rice. The octopus came in small pieces on top of a boiled potato, sliced and there were olives with seeds placed on top. The salad consisted of slices of tomato, lettuce and some onion. This came to a total of 37,- euros. The food is just lazy, look at the pictures lol. We're really sad to part with that money given the quality of the food and the tricks they used, but we see it as a friendly donation. A tourist trap won't survive the rising taxes and rental price of Alfama, along with the inflations. I think they've made peace with that and are building up their retirement piggy bank. Best regards.

The food here was absolutely great, especially the fish, we ordered salmon and some bacalhau. The service was a little off (could be just a one time mishap). It took the lady more than 20 minutes to come pick our order after we sat, every time we tried to call to order at least the water we we're told "I'm coming, and then more wait". Most of the stuff on the menu was not available but we were only notified after we had already made up our mind about what we wanted. We also ordered some coke (and we were automatically given coke zero) which is not a problem per se, but it would have been nice to know that the other one was over. Other than that, no complaints, the food was good, price as well and the cook was really kind to us. About other people mentioning the cost of the "welcome bread and cheese", this is not the only establishment, it's quite common in Portugal, so nothing odd here

Never fall for the friendly approach. We chose this restaurant solely based on the friendly introduction from the owner. Big mistake! The food was mediocre at best, the service was great until you're ready to pay. Be very careful, everything they put on the table will cost you something, yes is customary here, even the chorizo they automatically bring over to you making you think is complimentary. Silly tourist mistake. The 'house wine' they make themselves tasted like it was made next to the fish they serve. They don't accept credit cards. The lady stood right over us as we were counting our cash to pay the bill, making you very uncomfortable. Then she just grabbed it from us before we were even finish counting. I would not recommend this place, avoid it. This is a tourist trap.

The food presentation looks better than it tasted. Food was overly salty. The older lady and gentlemen was super friendly at the beginning, explaining all the dishes to us. We sat down, they gave us bread and cheese and said it was ‘on the house’ then also dropped down a tiny plate of sausage pieces. He suggested the house wine as they ‘made’ it so we ordered it. First ‘warning’, the house wine bottle came opened, the label on the bottle was warned out (like the bottle was reused plenty of time as the labelling was off but still left with the sticky residue from the original label). The taste of the wine was off. It was fishy, vinegary, wine like wannabe tasting but not wine. Next, the food arrived lukewarm at best. It was super salty (sardine), the sea bass was good, the octopus tasteless. Final, ask for bill it arrived, the bill looked off and we were trying to figure out was was billed. We were charge for the bread, the cheese, the sausage that we did not order. Fine whatever. Beginners mistake. We will pay, but the bad taste that was left in my mouth was the old lady was hoovering over us waiting for us to pay up. We said give us a few minutes but she continues to hover like we we ripping her off! We just needed some space lady! Like breathing space!! We didn’t even need to pass her the money, she literally grabbed it from us and after that, it was like service is over. Get up and go. I’m not one to write reviews as you can tell it my first one. I enjoy reading others review but feel it’s finally my time to write one. If you do intend to visit, I hope your experience was...
