What a gem this place is! Highly recommended for Lisbon locals and tourists alike. We actually went back for a return visit after our trip to Lisbon was extended unexpectedly.
Our favorite dishes were the Szechuan noodle soup and the Yakimeshi (Japanese fried rice). The broth in the soup was a perfect balance of hot-spicy, numbing-spicy, and comforting fresh ingredients. The folded, over-medium egg was a lovely surprise. The Yakimeshi was just so comforting and cooked to a perfect texture. I doubt you’ll find a better fried rice in Lisbon.
The other dishes we tried—Char Siu Bun, Seafood Roll, and “Chinese Spicy”—were winners as well.
The atmosphere is comfortable and casual. My Tsing -Tao was cold and the Jasmine Tea was just right. Best of all, the family exudes warmth and kindness. The host/server, Zhuana (I’m guessing on the spelling!) immediately made us feel welcomed. The young daughter peeked her head out too and said hi a couple of times, and I can tell she is just about the coolest kid in Lisbon.
I fully recommend Asian Cuisine Bar Alfama, and I’ll make a point of stopping in any time I’m back...
Read moreMy Dad and I tried this restaurant while staying in Alfama and I can positively say it was one of the nicest meals we had in Lisbon. The restaurant is in a great location right in the heart of Alfama, and close to the Alfama Flea Market and National Pantheon (so is a perfect lunch stop if you’re planning to visit either of those!)
It has a cosy, authentic feel and the decorations are lovely. The people running the restaurant were extremely friendly and the kind lady who waited on our table immediately made us feel right at home. It was amazing service and we already want to come back as soon as possible!
Our food was delicious - I am vegetarian and we immediately noticed that the menu had a great range of vegetarian options available. We ordered two pad thais, the seaweed salad and the vegetable spring rolls - all of which were amazing.
If you’re looking for delicious food and warm service, this seems like the perfect place. We had an amazing experience at Asian Cuisine Bar Alfama and would greatly recommend it to anyone...
Read moreI hate to be the one to ruin the great streak, however this was a major let down and the first time I felt mislead by the reviews.
It didn’t just not live up to expectation, but was truly bad.The service was nice of course, however the food was incredibly disappointing. Extremely greasy, where the sauce is just pure oil. Secondly, the flavors are anything but authentic. We got a Chinese chicken curry- and I’m not sure how it’s supposed to taste but it just tasted not good, and full of oil. The Pad Thai though, I’ve had plenty of in my life and it tasted nothing like how it should. No complexity in flavor, no proper sauce mixture, just a greasy stir fry with the “look” and no flavor. Very very disappointing and felt unhealthy. We did not finish our food. Just ate the protein from our dishes mainly and left.
I’m not sure how this got great reviews. Perhaps bad day or wrong items to...
