Lisbon’s Most Iconic View — Just Don’t Forget Your Sunglasses 😅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)

If you’re looking for the picture-perfect Lisbon view, this is it.

After stopping by the more famous (but slightly more crowded) Miradouro de Santa Luzia, we walked just a few steps and reached Miradouro das Portas do Sol — and wow, this one hits different. The sweeping view of Lisbon’s signature terracotta rooftops, the pastel buildings, and the river stretching out in the distance is just chef’s kiss. Seriously, it’s the kind of spot that makes you take ten photos and still want to take more.

Compared to Santa Luzia, this miradouro feels more open and cinematic. The only downside? No shade. We visited in June under a blazing sun, and let’s just say… you don’t want to linger too long unless you enjoy slow-roasting. My advice? Snap your shots, shoot your videos, then find shelter (preferably with gelato). 😅🍦

We visited both during the day and the golden hour — and both were magical. Crowded? Sure. But we were part of that crowd, and that made it feel alive.

Quick Ratings: View: 10/10 Instagram Potential: 10/10 Comfort in Summer: 5/10 😅 Worth Visiting? Absolutely.

If this helped, I’d love a 👍 — it helps others find the view too!

And if you're curious about more spots like this, feel free to check out my...

Miradouro das Portas do Sol is where you find a hillside opening and nice viewpoint into the buildings of lower Alfama district, the river and landmark Museo Militar and São Vicente de Fora Church in the distance.

There is a statue of San Vincent at this small public space as well. However, it is the views that entice you to make a stop here while spending time in the Alfama District.

You can reach this location on foot by walking up Rua do Limoeiro past Sé (The Cathedral) in route to São Jorge Castle up the streets from this viewpoint.

Note: Nearby you can also visit the Jardim de Castello, Iglesia de Santa Luzia and separate viewpoint from this location. It just a minute or two away by foot and was a preferred stop for us due to the more peaceful garden grounds and the blue-and-white tiled murals you...
