The food tasted like what it looked like - bland. I was skeptical at first. There was no one there and the food did not look good. The server was pushy to seat us. Most, if not all, of the reviews for this restaurant are for sure fake. I am new to Lisbon, but this restaurant in comparison to yesterday's dinner was below average. We had a fantastic meal the day before, so quite strange that this place has hundreds of more reviews than a legitimate restaurant and 10X more reviews. You will feel underwhelmed at this place and wonder why the rating is so high when the food is just meh. The reviews are all fake. "If you eat the bread, we will charge you one euro." Charged us the one Euro even though we didn't touch the bread... so I removed a star for that. I should remove another star for the quantity of fake reviews... Likely, the management for this restaurant is bad.. I'd say this place is a solid 3 stars, but since they nickel and dime tourists, they lose a point. I'd avoid this place as there are many others in Alfama area to eat which are good.

This restaurant is a beautiful little find in the back streets of Lisboa. I often prefer restaurants that are more like a little kitchen or cafe because the food tends to be good for locals rather than a tourist trap. Enough about my thoughts on life… to the food! Very very good and reasonably priced fish. The portions are not huge but I’m a healthy 6ft4 chap and i was full when i left, so that says something. I recommend the calamari starter (€6) where you get about 12 pieces. My wife had the soup which was €1.50 and we shared cod croquettes (€1.50 each). Absolutely delicious and good prices. For mains i had the grilled octopus and my wife had the cod. Both delicious. Beware that the “chips” that are served are crisps rather than fries…so ask for fries if you want those. 3 starters, two mains, 0.5l wine and a coffee for €46. I’ve shared pictures but you really need to come and try for yourself. Enjoy ☺️ Oh!!! Try and book a reservation. It’s a tiny place and you don’t want to be disappointed.

An absolutely magical stroll through Lisbon's Alfama district is perfectly finished with a dinner at this place. The restaurant is small, with just a few tables inside, but we sadly found out too late that it also has a lovely garden in a quiet square in front of it. The menu is quite extensive, perhaps even too much -when you come here, you're looking for honest, regional cuisine, so a few traditional dishes made from local products would be more than enough. The minimalist decor is warmed up by the very friendly service. The fish we ordered was delicious and delicate, and the side dishes were fresh and simple. It's a huge plus that you can swap out the sides if the default options don't suit you. I highly recommend this spot if you want to soak up the local atmosphere and take a break from the more tourist-focused places in the city center.

Hello, I have passed by your restaurant on multiple occasions, and each time has been an unbearable experience. The offensive and repugnant stench that emanates from your kitchen fills the air, leaving a trail of misery and disgust. The fact that this pervasive odor persists despite repeated encounters is a testament to the dire state of your establishment and the neglect shown towards addressing the issue.

Not only is the smell unbearable, but the absence of eco-friendly practices further compounds the misery surrounding your restaurant. By disregarding sustainability, you contribute to environmental harm and display a complete lack of responsibility towards the well-being of our planet.

It is disheartening to witness the impact of your negligence on the local community and the environment. The noxious fumes that permeate the air serve as a constant reminder of your failure as an owner to address this issue promptly and effectively.

I urge you to reflect on the gravity of this situation and take immediate action to rectify the miserable conditions that persist in your restaurant. Invest in proper ventilation, address the underlying causes of the foul smell, and embrace eco-friendly practices. Only then can you begin to restore respectability to your establishment and alleviate the intense misery that your actions have caused.

Yours with deep...

I do not understand how this place has so many positive reviews. We went here for our last night in Lisbon and, after a month of eating so well in the city, were disappointed for the first time. The pastéis de bacalhau were obviously frozen and then overcooked. Then we had the bacalhau a casa, or salted cod. It was inedible - no flavor, no salt, chewy, and full of bones. The worst part is that they were patronizing and tried to blame the preparation of the fish - that because it is salted, boiled and then cooked, that is why we might not like it. But as someone who grew up eating bacalhau, loves it, and prepares it herself, I am well aware of the preparation method and it is no excuse for the terrible taste. I think they need to consider researching more how to prepare a good bacalhau. They did remove one of the plates from the bill because I couldn’t eat it, but we would have much rather paid full price for good food. And everything was disappointing - the olives, the bread, the sangria. A tourist trap and not an “authentic Portuguese experience” in...
