Listen. This is not service but a transaction and I liked it. When we came in, grill master scolded a server because the door was open and he let us in, mind you two persons were already in. Once we tried to speak Portuguese the transaction went better. They do the entree strategy but if you say no thanks they’ll take it off the table.
We had chicken which was great but a bit salty, had to ask for piri piri twice but that’s ok. Seems a family business with the family dynamics that come with it. They don’t seem to enjoy working there. In a Lisbon full of English speakers, if you wanna practice your Portuguese it’s clearly there as they don’t seem to. Young server with blond beard was the only one smiling or having a normal service.
In a Lisbon full of English speakers and nice people, it was nice to have some real no bs treatment. It’s not for everyone, but if you want some real stuff this is it. Food wise it’s like everywhere (fries, rice salad and whatnot) but in terms of service, it’s from the old world and I enjoyed it. If you go to this restaurant knowing the service is below average you’ll have a good laugh and enjoy it.
People don’t seem to enjoy their job nor the lives and I liked it. Felt like a bit of real life. Food was ok and authentic, and that was refreshing. To do. (Early preferably) but know what you’re coming for. Chicken was good and the steaks on the nearby tables looked delicious. Honest food from honest people but honesty is not for everyone. Ambiance is dead (tv and frowns) would recommend for some authenticity after all the...
Read moreTHIS IS THE PLACE TO GO! Me and my husband are on our honeymoon and we just arrived in Lisbon, we stumbled across O Tachadas and quickly realised we had to go in! We were greeted by Rodrigo who was warm, smiley and kind, he looked after us all night and by the end we felt like friends! He was charming and professional and we were very lucky to have him as our waiter! We chose the Sirloin steak with chips and rice. IT WAS DELICIOUS and I can honestly say the best steak I’ve ever had. It was cooked to perfection (we were asked how we liked it) and the garlic mayo that came with it was unreal! The chips were perfectly seasoned and the rice! We also had Caipirinhas that were made from scratch in front of us and they were AMAZING I could have had 10! The atmosphere was buzzing with all the tables full! We chatted to the staff and laughed all night! If you are in Lisbon and want traditional Portuguese food that is DELICIOUS and so reasonably priced you must visit! We will be coming again and again! Thank you so much for a wonderful first meal as husband...
Read moreThe food here was a 10. The service was a 1. The restaurant itself was quite small in size, but looked like there were many locals. They had a menu in English, which may have played into some of the poor service. There were locals that arrived after us and got served before us. Our server did not make much eye contact. He also forgot the water and tried charging us for it. He did correct this error. The "pork secretos" was unlike anything I have ate.nit was like a crispy, juicy pork rind. The cooked vegetables, fries, and beef were also good. Great value for the price. This could easily have been a 4 or 5 if the service was any better. I would recommend if you know the local language or go with a local. It is centrally located and easy to find....
