Patricia and I visited 17.45 on a Sunday evening, arriving early, just before 8 PM. Located in Lisbon’s Bairro Alto, near Praça Camões, the restaurant benefits from a prime spot, easily accessible by metro, bus, or even by car, with parking available at Praça Camões.
The concept of 17.45 is intriguing: you curate your own charcuterie board from a selection of cheeses and cold cuts. The selection is solid, offering some variety, though it could be expanded to include more types of cheese. The quality of the ingredients is immediately apparent, and the kitchen takes care to present beautifully arranged boards.
However, there are areas that need improvement. The service is inconsistent, and this detracts from the overall experience. We encountered one outstanding waiter who was exceptionally knowledgeable and provided thorough explanations of everything on offer, enhancing our experience significantly. Unfortunately, this level of service wasn’t maintained by the rest of the staff. Other servers seemed indifferent, not ensuring that customers understood what they were eating, which can lead to a very different experience depending on who attends to you.
In our case, there was a small but noticeable issue—they forgot the wild boar saucisson, which we were particularly looking forward to. Nonetheless, everything else we ordered was excellent. We strongly recommend trying the seasonal cheeses.
Although we opted for beer, we would recommend exploring their wine list as it seemed well-curated.
The end of the meal left a slightly negative impression due to the slow process of receiving the bill. We waited for 15 minutes after requesting it, and only received it after asking another, more attentive waiter.
17.45 is a good restaurant with a lot of potential. The décor is appealing, the ingredients are of high quality, but the service needs more attention to ensure consistency across all staff members. We hope to return in the future to see how...
Read morept.2 of my review, because just like the owner/staff of this establishment, i have some free time to argue. Saying that the smell of fondue was being appreciated by ALL of the customers is a lie, because you could see people going outside to get some fresh air. Friendly reminder that ventilation systems do exist. Before demanding silence from new customers, first, try to explain them the rules of the establishment, especially during fado nights. Try using the same method that TEJO BAR uses, a very professional and well-spoken host is by the door and tells you in detail everything that you need to know. Asking the staff to lower the music was quite impossible, knowing that they were busy going for smoke breaks, dancing and busy picking popular songs from the 2000s. Spotify was definitely getting more attention than some tables. Checking my previous reviews was indeed a nice touch. Too bad you didn’t take the time to read them. They were about racism and lack of attention towards specific allergies. So again, good job you guys!!! It really shows the level of...
