I cannot understand the very positive reviews for this place. The food is not good. It has a VERY bland taste, is not very authentic and therefore we would not visit again. The service was good but they seemed to get annoyed when we didn’t want to order other/more things. We sat outside and the tables were situated on the stairs in a way that people walk directly next to your table in a very small gap and almost crash into your food. They should leave more room between tables and the space where people walk. We ordered the pulpo rice (arroz de polvo) and the bacalhau a bras. The rice dish used the wrong rice. It was cooked way too long, mushy consistency, almost no pulpo inside, didn’t taste like seafood/fish/pulpo but only tomato. They also put very little vegetables and what seemed to be no seasonings, spices or salt. It was not prepared like a typical Portuguese Arroz-dish, but seemed to be like a risotto (which it shouldn’t be - even more so in regards that they have risotto dishes separately on their menu!!!). The bacalhau a bras was served with plain salad without any oil, seasoning or vinegar. The potato in the dish tasted a bit old and the whole dish screamed for more salt and seasonings.

Sometimes luck has nothing to do with it. On our first evening in Lisbon in late January 2024 we spent a fair bit of time (45 minutes?) wandering around the neighbourhood looking for the right spot. Several spots looked really "right" because no tables were available. We avoided the obvious tourist or youth focused restaurant/bars and finally came across this place. It was our first introduction to Bacalhau, the common salted codfish dish found throughout Portugal. That and the thinly sliced pork filets were delicious. Being seated in the relatively narrow Lane way between the flights of stairs was unique in itself. Great service and fairly priced.

We stumbled upon this restaurant down a quaint little street in Lisbon, away from the crowds and the commercial eateries. The menu was varied and it was hard to choose. We had the Dorad fish and the chef special peri peri chicken. Both dishes were fresh and delicious and of a generous portion. Food and drinks were well priced for the city. The service was impeccable especially from Mirza who was really helpful and spoke an impressive 6 languages. I wish we had more time here so we could return to sample more of the menu. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to Lisbon in the near future.

Last night's visit to a restaurant called Rico Sabor in Barrio Alto, Lisbon was an unfortunate and uncomfortable experience. Despite having enjoyed their food in the past, the cold and unwelcoming atmosphere left me with no choice but to leave before even placing an order.

Upon expressing my discomfort to the staff due to the chilly conditions, their attempt to remedy the situation fell short, and the indoor temperature remained freezing. What made matters worse was the inappropriate and aggressive behavior exhibited by a tall male staff member.

As my friend and I decided to leave, we were falsely accused of entering solely to use the restroom by the aforementioned staff member. Despite our efforts to clarify, the situation escalated, and I was subjected to threatening and menacing behavior. This not only marred my previous positive experiences but also left me questioning the professionalism and safety of the establishment.

Considering the severity of the incident, I am contemplating reporting this unfortunate encounter to the police. It's disheartening to sever ties with a place I once enjoyed, but the hostile encounter has unequivocally deterred me from ever considering a return to [Restaurant Name].

We ate here late one night and initially wanted to wait on the patio while we took food to-go, but a tall male staff member said he could seat us inside. It seemed unlikely since it was around 30 minutes to closing, but we accepted as there were others still inside. He then proceeded to act extremely weird towards us the entire time. He seemed angry at us from the start, making passive-aggressive comments. We ordered quickly but I made a mistake ordering, and had to correct what I asked for. His reply was "Oh, NOW you want your beef cooked medium??". He seemed extremely resentful of us. We ended up asking to take things to-go after about 20 minutes anyway because the vibe was so weird. We said we would like to put everything in a box and he sarcastically replied "oh SURE you can take ANYTHING you want ma'am". The other servers seemed aware and embarrassed. At one point, our server suddenly ran out the front door and up the street. At another time, he sat out front on the stairs with his head in his hands. His emotional state was unstable and took up the entire restaurant. It seemed to me he might enjoy skiing if you know what I mean. We ended up not eating the take-away because I honestly thought he could have spat in it or something.

Reading the other reviews, I now realize we probably got the same tall male waiter who menaced...
