Went here with family on a Monday night and had a fantastic meal. The restaurant’s new location, which they moved into in September, is absolutely beautiful, with wooden panel walls that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The service was excellent—we were greeted immediately by multiple friendly staff members, and our waiter was attentive and personable throughout the evening.
The food was incredible, especially the seafood. While a lot of the fish dishes we initially wanted weren’t available (likely because it was a Monday, which we later learned isn’t the best day for fresh seafood), the dishes that were available—like ameijoas a bulhao pato, shark soup, and squid—were outstanding. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor.
We also discovered after our visit that this restaurant is primarily known for its alentejo-style cuisine, which focuses more on meat dishes. But as seafood lovers, we were still blown away by the quality of what we had. All in all, a wonderful dining experience that I’d...
Read moreI may be a bit of a food snob having traveled the world and experienced amazing food throughout. This restaurant for both me and my guest was truly disappointing. First, we walked in at prime time weekend and the place was empty. When we sat down, the bread brought to the table tasted like cardboard. How hard is it to get the bread right at a very expensive restaurant? Then the waiter brought out a platter of starter foods and did a hard sell on the items on the tray which were cold and had been traveling around on that tray to other tables. We tried a few and the starters were just cold and not well prepared. Finally the food came, we were shocked at how unimaginative, non-flavorful, the food was with lamb chops sitting alone on a plate without any sauce or side dish to compliment it,….over priced, and it would have been worth it had the food been well prepared,...
Read moreI go to Magano somewhat frequently (as much as my wallet allows). It is one of my favourite restaurants in Lisbon. Some of the best dishes from the Alentejo in the capital (for all the internationals out there, I'd say that this cuisine is traditional Mediterranean). You don't see migas in restaurants that often. But I can't help having the John Dory filets most of the time. Absolutely fabulous. Deserts are wonderful. I usually go for the sericaia with ameixa de Elvas but you can't choose wrong here. I've tried them all and every single desert is delicious. They have a good wine list, even a good assortment of gins. The people at Magano are super friendly and accommodating. I most definitely shouldn't be writing this review. Wouldn't want this gem to be spoiled... But hey, got to give credit where it's due and these guys deserve it. Always leave...
